Brazilian tortoise is the most common name, but in fact, the origin of Brazilian tortoise is not Brazil in South America, but the Mississippi River and Rio Grande River basins in North America, so it is also called Mississippi red-eared tortoise. It also has a more commonly used name called Brazilian red-eared turtle, because it has two thick red stripes on both sides of the back of the head. This is the difference between the Mississippi red-eared turtle called "Brazilian turtle" and the real Brazilian turtle. The other looks of the two are actually difficult to distinguish.
The Latin scientific name of Brazilian tortoise is Trachemysscriptaelegans, which belongs to a subspecies of tortoise, Zegui and Colored Tortoise. In fact, although it is only a subspecies, it has many names, including red-eared lateral turtle, small colorful turtle, dollar turtle, red-eared colorful turtle, grass turtle, colorful turtle and red-eared skateboard turtle.
