First, the legend of Dayu
Dayu's water control is a legendary fairy tale. After Dayu successfully managed the water at that time, there were no more floods in the Yangtze River area. In some areas, plants such as wheat could not be planted before, so the locals mixed wheat leaves and glutinous rice to commemorate Dayu's contribution and made green dumplings, and they put them in front of Dayu's grave every year as sacrifices.
Second, it appeared in the late Yuan Dynasty.
The dumplings in the Yuan Dynasty were related to Chen Youliang. It is said that Chen Youliang's wife at that time tried to cook a lot of steamed pink meat, steamed pearl balls and steamed chrysanthemum in order to treat the soldiers. After these were finished, some glutinous rice flour was left. Some people filled the remaining glutinous rice flour with various fillings and wrapped it up and steamed it, which made it taste particularly delicious, so the practice of dumplings gradually began to be handed down.
Third, it appeared in the Qing Dynasty.
The legend of the Qing Dynasty was during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement. At that time, there was a general named Taiping Chen in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Taiping Chen failed to be chased by the Qing army to a small village. Because the Qing army was searching everywhere, Taiping Chen couldn't go out and was hungry for many days. Later, he was discovered by a farmer. When he found that Taiping Chen was hungry for a long time, he planned to give him some food to eat. However, because of the search of the Qing army, he couldn't bring food out. Because the color of wormwood and glutinous rice was the same as grass, he put wormwood juice.
