When planted in the same year, it bears fruit in the same year, and the flowering and fruiting period is long, which coincides with National Day, New Year's Day, Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and other festivals, so it is very suitable for potted plants. Potted Zizyphus jujuba, with beautiful tree shape, white branches and numerous fruits, is pleasing to the eye, crisp and delicious, and has a unique flavor, which is deeply loved by consumers. In recent years, some temperate provinces (such as Henan Province) have introduced greenhouse cultivation, and the effect is good. Using Taiwan Province Zizyphus jujuba to make bonsai can completely enter the northern market.

The production methods and management points of potted plants and bonsai of Zizyphus jujuba in Taiwan Province are introduced as follows:

(1) Requirements for environmental conditions: Taiwan Province Zizyphus jujuba is a typical positive plant, which requires high temperature, and can only grow well in sufficient sunshine. Potted plants can be planted in the open field in areas where the annual average temperature is above 18℃, the extreme lowest temperature is ≥0℃, the active accumulated temperature above 10℃ is ≥ 5,000℃, and the frost period does not exceed 15 days. The rest areas should be cultivated in greenhouses or greenhouses in cold season, depending on the situation.

(2) Selection of varieties and seedlings: potted plants mainly focus on ornamental value, and have low requirements on fruit quality and varieties. Generally, commercially available varieties such as: 50 species, 5,000 species, Century Jujube, Biyun, etc. can be used, as long as the characteristics are selected. Seedlings should be grafted with high quality, and the interface should be low, preferably below 5-10 cm.

(3) Selection of flowerpots and substrates: Taiwan Province Zizyphus jujuba has a well-developed root system and fast growth, so a large flowerpot with a diameter of 35-40cm should be selected. The matrix is loose and fertile soil. Such as vegetable garden soil or pond mud, add about 2% bran cake, fully break and mix well, and serve in the basin.

(4) Planting period: Taiwan Province Zizyphus jujuba can be planted in all months except the coldest and hottest month, and the most suitable planting seasons are March-May and September-11month.

(5) Shaping and setting up pillars: after Taiwan Province jujube seedlings are put into pots, the seedlings are fixed at the position15-20cm above the seedling interface. When the new shoots grow to about 5 cm, 3-4 new shoots with roughly uniform distribution are kept as the main branches, and all the other branches are erased, or several branches can be left according to the needs of different plastic surgery. When the main branches are about 50 cm long, a pillar is set beside each main branch. Pillars can be made of bamboo branches or wooden sticks, about 50-60 cm long, and the pillars are bound and fixed with fine wire. Tie the main branches to the pillars with ropes according to the needs of plastic surgery, so that the green jujube bonsai can grow into a certain shape. The shape of bonsai can't be the same, but it should be guided by the situation and varied.

(6) Fertilizer and water management: under suitable conditions, Zizyphus jujuba can grow all year round, with a large amount of growth and more fertilizer and water. Potted jujube should be based on the principle of thin fertilizer and diligent application. Generally, fertilizer can be applied once every two weeks. In the early stage, dilute water and fertilizer are mainly applied. In the future, the amount of fertilizer can be increased, and about 30 grams of compound fertilizer can be applied to each plant each time. After flowering and fruiting, appropriate phosphorus, potassium fertilizer or micro-fertilizer should be applied to make the green jujube bonsai grow better. Water should be poured frequently, and the basin soil should always be kept wet, and it should not be watered too much at a time, and it should not be too wet; In the dry season, water is sprayed 2-3 times a day.
