The Battle of Huangqiao took place from October 4 to January 14, 1940.

In 1940, the Jiangbei Command of the New Fourth Army, led by Chen Yi, won the decisive battle of Huangqiao with a force of 7,000 against 15,000 troops of the government army 89th Army, led by the chairman of Jiangsu Province, Han Deqin, and wiped out more than 11,000 of its men.
