Qinghai Lake Huangshi is the national second pole protection animal.

Qinghai Lake naked carp for cold water fish, like to live in shallow water, also common in the beach migratory zone or boulder piles of running water between the slower place, in the winter is submerged in deep pools, rock crevices, adaptable, on the living conditions and not strict requirements, the smaller ponds and shallow lakeside can live, in brackish and fresh water. It can live in small ponds and shallow lakes, as well as in brackish and fresh water.

After hatching, the young fish will swim in groups, mostly in shallow estuaries, like to live in beaches, slow flowing water between piles of boulders, deep pools or rock crevices, with strong adaptability, and can live in semi-saline water (the salinity of the water in Qinghai Lake is 12-13‰) or fresh water.
