Plums can be preserved for a longer period of time by temperature control, proper humidity, separate storage, freezing and dry storage.
1, temperature control
Plums are best kept in a cool place, where the temperature is kept between 10-15 degrees Celsius. Avoid exposing plums to high temperatures or direct sunlight, which will cause them to rot faster.
2. Proper Humidity
Plums like a certain amount of humidity, but too much humidity can cause them to rot. You can place plums on paper towels or soft cloths to absorb excess moisture.
3. Store them separately
If you have more than one plum, it is best to store them separately. This is because when one plum starts to go bad, it releases ethylene gas, which can affect the freshness of the others.
4. Freeze
If you want to keep them longer, consider freezing the plums. Wash, cube or core the plums, then seal them in a freezer bag and store them in the freezer.
5. Dry storage
You can also dry plums and store them. Cut the plums into thin slices and then dry them in a cool, airy place until they become dry. Then store them in a ziplock bag.
