Brief introduction of Nanjing Yunjin:

Nanjing Yunjin is a traditional jacquard silk handicraft with a history of 1600 years. Nanjing Yunjin has as many as 18 colors. The main flowers are introduced layer by layer by using "color halo", which is rich and elegant, with solid texture, rich and beautiful patterns, rich colors and resplendence, just like the colorful clouds in the sky, so it is called "Yunjin".

Nanjing Yunjin is rich in cultural and scientific connotation, and is praised by experts as "the treasure of the East" and "the best in China". It is one of the most precious historical and cultural heritages in China and the world. Nanjing Yunjin, together with Chengdu Shujin, Suzhou Songjin and Guangxi Zhuangjin, is also called "China's Four Famous Brocades". It is also known as "two famous brocade" with Suzhou silk reeling.

Nanjing Yunjin evolved from colorful brocade in the Song Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty, Mongolians used to decorate official uniforms with real gold. In addition, with the expansion of national strength and the increase of gold mining, Yunjin, which is characterized by weaving gold with silver, stood out and later became the most precious silk weaving variety with the highest technological level.

Nanjing Yunjin was a tribute to the royal family from the Yuan Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Sometimes it is used as a gift from the imperial court to foreign monarchs and envoys, as well as to ministers and meritorious people.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Nanjing brocade technology became more and more mature and formed the local characteristics of silk jacquard brocade. At its peak, it had more than 30,000 looms and nearly 300,000 people engaged in brocade, which was the largest handicraft industry in Nanjing at that time.
