First, the difference in appearance
Large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) has a body length of about 40-50cm, a golden belly, a blunt-pointed head and a slender tail handle. In addition, there are many rows of luminous particles in the abdomen of Pseudosciaena crocea, and the color of the abdomen will change to varying degrees from different angles. Small yellow croaker is very similar to large yellow croaker, but smaller in size, with a general body length of 16~25cm and a weight of about 200~300g g.
The number of gluteal fins of Pseudosciaena crocea is 7-9, usually 8, and the tail handle is slender, and the length is 3 times of the height. The number of anal fins of small yellow croaker is 9- 10, which is generally 9. The tail stalk is relatively thick and short, and the length is twice as long as the height. Large yellow croaker scales are relatively small, while small yellow croaker scales are relatively large.
Second, geographical distribution
Pseudosciaena crocea is mainly distributed in China's coastal areas, starting from the South China Sea in the south, south of the central part of the East China Sea in the north, the west coast of Korea and the southern waters of Japan. Small yellow croaker is mainly distributed in the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the southwest coast of Korea, with a slight overlap in distribution.
Third, the nutritional function is different
Small yellow croaker: Small yellow croaker is rich in protein, sugar, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, sodium, magnesium, selenium and vitamin A, etc., which is of high edible value, and it is found that small yellow croaker also has quite high medicinal value from both traditional medicine and modern medical research in China. For example, swim bladder has the effects of moistening lung, invigorating spleen, nourishing qi and blood, and has gallbladder function.
Pseudosciaena crocea: Pseudosciaena crocea has good meat quality and delicious taste. Squirrel Pseudosciaena crocea is a feast delicacy, most of which are sold fresh. Others are salted into "melon fish". After eviscerating and salting, they are washed, dried and made into "yellow croaker fish" or canned. The swim bladder can be dried into a valuable food "fish belly" or "yellow croaker glue", and the liver contains vitamin A.
