This is generally true, but not necessarily.
White duck down is used as filling for clothing mainly made of light-colored fabrics, and gray duck down is used for down jackets mainly made of dark-colored fabrics. Because the fabrics of some down products are lighter in color and the inner liner has fewer layers of material, white duck down is generally used to prevent the color of the filling from showing through.
Especially for down jackets made of white fabrics, white duck down is generally used to avoid looking gray. However, if the gallbladder fabric is thick or has multiple layers of gallbladder fabric, there is basically no need to consider this issue.
Because the output of white duck down is small, in my country, most of the down is produced in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas in the south, and almost all the lake duck down there is covered with black and gray hair. In terms of warmth retention, the two are actually the same.
However, the number of white ducks is smaller than that of gray ducks, so the production of white duck down is naturally less, and the price is naturally more expensive.
Down used as filler, in addition to down, also contains a certain amount of long hair flakes, wool flakes, land bird feathers, feather silk, velvet and other impurities. The down content reflects the down content. The ratio of the quality of velvet and velvet in the product to the total mass of the sample.
At present, the current national standard for down clothing requires that its down content is "not less than 50%". Those down jackets that do not indicate the down content should be thrown away as soon as possible. The so-called down filling refers to the quality of down filling per unit volume of down products.
