1. When is the best season to plant cherimoya? Planting period: If it is in tropical areas such as Hainan Province and Leizhou Peninsula, it can be planted in spring and autumn. In other subtropical areas, I recommend planting between February and April. During this period, most of the south has warmed up and the temperature is not high. It is the most suitable plant for growing cherimoya. Because planting in autumn and winter, seedlings can easily get frostbite if the temperature is too low, and they can easily get sunburned if it is summer. Therefore, it is best to plant custard apples from February to April.
2. Planting method: Before planting, dig a large trench 80 cm deep and 1 meter in diameter in the place to be planted. Add about 20 kilograms of fully fermented human or animal feces, then add chemical fertilizer according to the fertility of the soil, stir thoroughly and leave it for 7 days. The purpose of this is to provide nutrients for the early growth of the custard apple root system. After 7 days, cover it with soil, leaving a depth of 3-5 cm to plant the custard apples. Water immediately after planting, and you can water more. Note: Manure must be fermented, otherwise it will damage the growth of cherimoya.
3. Follow-up management of planting: In the period from February to March after planting, the main thing to do is to water the cherimoya. Because the root system of the custard apple at this stage has not fully expanded, its water absorption capacity is low. If there is not enough water, it will easily wither and die. Just water enough to keep the soil moist. If you water too much, it will get flooded. It should also be noted that once planted, it is best not to transplant again, and it should be properly covered from the midday sun during high temperatures to avoid sunburn.
