What is the name of this freshwater fish?
Tilapia, native to Africa, is a tropical fish, including 100 subspecies. Tilapia has the characteristics of fast production speed, high yield, miscellaneous eating habits, few diseases and strong reproduction. It is also called African crucian carp, South crucian carp, Vietnamese fish, Wu Guoyu, Fushou fish and golden phoenix fish. At present, there are Mozambican tilapia, Oreochromis aurea and Nile tilapia imported from China (recommended by FAO). All-male non-crucian carp such as longevity fish and new crucian carp are used in production.
