Food safety standards shall include the following contents, and the rest do not belong to food safety standards: (1) the limits of pathogenic microorganisms, pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, biotoxins, heavy metals and other pollutants harmful to human health in food, food additives and food-related products; (2) Variety, scope of use and dosage of food additives; (three) the nutritional requirements of the main and supplementary foods for infants and other specific groups; (4) Labels, signs and instructions related to food safety requirements such as hygiene and nutrition; (5) Hygienic requirements in the process of food production and operation; (6) Quality requirements related to food safety; (seven) food inspection methods and procedures related to food safety; (eight) other contents that need to formulate food safety standards.

Decision of NPC Standing Committee on Amending the Law of the People's Republic of China on Road Traffic Safety and Other Eight Laws. Amend the Food Safety Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), and amend the first paragraph of Article 35 to read: "The state practices a licensing system for food production and operation. Engaged in food production, food sales, catering services, shall obtain a license according to law. However, sales of edible agricultural products and sales only in prepackaged foods do not require permission. If only prepackaged foods is sold, it shall be filed with the food safety supervision and administration department of the local people's government at or above the county level. " This decision shall come into force as of the date of promulgation.
