Our stockade is located on the hillside. Because of the high altitude, there are no rivers passing through, only two small river ditches.
That was before, but now, the river ditch is almost gone, leaving only a pitiful flow, barely covering the "river bed."
These two river ditches were probably washed away by water a long time ago, and some stones of different sizes were piled inside; Weeds on both sides blocked the road.
They are together in front of and behind the stockade.
The location of the river ditch in front of the stockade is called "sacrificial forest". The water in that river ditch flows out of a hole.
We once lit a candle and went in. The deepest part of the water was just the size of an adult's calf.
A group of people lit candles and walked carefully. The cave is very cool, and the deepest part is a slope composed of soil and wind fossils. It is reported that the old man in the stockade once saw rabbits in it.
According to the elders' guesses, the cave where the mountain forest is sacrificed may be connected with the scattered water cave in the stockade, so the water in that cave is likely to flow from the scattered water cave.
The other is located behind the stockade, and the place where the river ditch is located is called "the back of the house", which is very close to the fact.
The water in the river ditch probably comes from groundwater, because there are no rivers or reservoirs around, only a small outlet flows in the river ditch.
There are some wild mountain crab living in two river ditches. They are very small, the largest of which is the size of a baby's palm. They feed on earthworms and aquatic plants in the river ditches.

At that time, the countryside was so poor that there were no cement roads, let alone street lamps.
Food is basically self-sufficient-rice is planted in paddy fields and wheat, corn or vegetables are planted in dry fields.
Irrigation water comes from the only well in the stockade. This manhole cover is on a water outlet, and water comes out every day to feed generations.
Farmers basically have no spare money, and there is not much left in a year's harvest except the daily living expenses of a family.
Buy a new set of clothes for children every year and give lucky money to children at home.
There is not much lucky money, so it is enough to buy a toy gun or toy car. Rural children have a strong hand, and they will be broken in a few days, so they will find something else to entertain themselves.
There were many cattle-raising families at that time. When we children are not in class on weekdays, we are called by adults to herd cattle, and a group of children lead the cattle up the mountain.
Adults' original intention was to let us herd cattle, but we went to the river ditch to touch mountain crab. Cattle grazing is secondary. We touch crabs in the name of cattle grazing.
If you bring cattle, you can only go to the back of the house, because the sacrificial forest is close to another stockade, and there are only weeds around except farmland, and there is no open space. Naturally, there is no place to put so many cattle.
The river ditch behind the house is sandwiched between two hillsides, with crops on both sides and occasionally a few abandoned farmland dotted inside.
The farmland is overgrown with weeds, which is just suitable for grazing cattle.
We shouted and drove the cows to the field, leaving one or two children to watch the cows to prevent them from getting lost; The rest of the people were carrying some bottles and jars, and their upper bodies were cut off.

This river ditch is under two steep slopes. Whenever it rains heavily, stones and soil on the steep slope will collapse. After a long time, the river ditch has become narrower and narrower, and now it is only over one meter wide.
Gravel and big stones are everywhere in the river ditch. I don't know where these stones come from. There are few stones around the hillside. I guess they were washed here by mountains and rivers.
Those mountain crabs like to stay in dark and humid places. They will make holes and nests like mice.
Most of the time they hide in holes, and occasionally they hide under gravel.
There are crabs that climb out to bask in the sun. I once met a black back shell, with two pliers held high and small eyes staring at a place for a while. I heard someone treading on water and ran away.
Although mountain crab is small, his speed and reaction ability are very fast. It only takes a few seconds to run into the grass and hide.
Catching crabs is also skillful. For example, if you see a hole, you have to carefully observe the traces in front of it. If it is two parallel lines, it is probably a crab. If it is winding, it may be a water snake.
So be careful, and be careful when digging holes.
We turned over the rubble with one hand and quickly reached down with the other. If we are lucky, we can touch a crab. Be more careful after touching, and have a pair of pliers to prevent it from screaming.
There are very few crabs in the river ditch. Sometimes you can't catch a few after working for a few hours, and more often you return empty-handed.
We washed the crabs caught in the puddle, then threw them into the bottles we brought, and dug some earthworms from the soil to feed them.
I'm afraid of earthworms, let alone pick them up by hand and tear them into pieces to feed crabs. So there are generally no earthworms in my crab bottle, only small pieces of water grass and small pieces of gravel.

On the way home, you should look at the crab in the bottle from time to time, because its six crab legs are very strong and often climb out along the bottle wall and then run away.
We took it home, washed it under the tap a few times, opened its hard shell, took out the dirty things inside and fried it in the oil pan.
Fried in Huang Cancan, you can eat some salt and Chili noodles. It's crisp to chew, but there is not much meat and the taste is average.
I used to keep crabs, and I kept them every time I caught them. Of course I didn't raise it, but I want to eat more meat after I raise it.
At that time, I didn't know anything and was playful. I often catch it and put it at home.
Sometimes if you put it in a plastic basin, it will crawl out along the basin wall and disappear. Sometimes you forget to change the water in a stainless steel basin. After a long time, the water stinks and the crab is completely dead.
It seems that my animals have hardly lived long. Only once did I play the turntable in the street and brought back two little turtles. The younger one has been raised for more than a month, and the older one has been raised for half a year.
I haven't kept animals since then, let alone caught crabs.
I am trapped in school, come back occasionally, and look at the quiet village, feeling bored. I wanted to catch crabs, but I was the only one. On the way, I suddenly lost interest in the weeds on the road.
As for the two river ditches, the water that sacrificed to the mountain forest flows by the roadside, and you can still see the water dripping down, so as not to die of thirst; And the one behind the house, I haven't seen you for years. If it hasn't dried up and there is no human intrusion, I think those crabs will live better!
