Matters needing attention in losing weight with traditional Chinese medicine
Generally, there are five types of syndrome differentiation for reference in applying Chinese herbal medicine to lose weight:
(1) Damp resistance due to spleen deficiency: body fat and swelling, drowsiness and inactivity, chest tightness and shortness of breath, anorexia and fullness in the abdomen, pale tongue with fat and greasy fur, and slow pulse. (3) Liver depression and qi stagnation: obesity, fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, fullness in the stomach, occasional hiccups, irregular menstruation or amenorrhea, insomnia and dreaminess, dark red tongue with white fur and thready pulse. Treatment: promoting qi and relieving depression, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. Prescription: Yueju Pill and Taohong Siwu Decoction.
(4) Internal heat due to yin deficiency: obesity, headache, dizziness, bulging eyes, tinnitus, drunken complexion, elevated blood pressure, numbness of limbs, feverish sensation of five nerves, red tongue tip with little coating or thin, and thready pulse. Treatment: resolving phlegm and descending turbidity, nourishing yin and clearing heat. Prescription: Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction combined with Erchen Decoction.
(5) Stomach-heat and dampness resistance: fat and healthy, overeating easily leads to hunger, abdominal cavity stagnation, dry mouth and tongue, thirst and thirst, constipation, red tongue with yellow fur, and slippery pulse. Treatment: purging heat and dredging fu organs, diuresis and turbidity. Prescription: Liangge Powder combined with Sanren Decoction.
Generally, the commonly used Chinese patent medicines for reducing weight are Fangfeng Tongsheng powder, which is suitable for obese people with empirical evidence, and the Japanese pay more attention to this side; Qixiao pill is suitable for obesity with yin deficiency and internal heat; Baijin pill is suitable for patients with hyperlipidemia accompanied by phlegm and blood stasis; Weight-loss pills are suitable for people with phlegm-heat blocking defecation; Ningzhi is suitable for spleen deficiency and dampness with phlegm and blood stasis.
