Hu. Ostrich is the general name of several wading birds related to herons. They live in warm areas of the old and western hemispheres and feed on aquatic animals and amphibians. It is characterized by a slender and downward curved beak. White ibis are common in China, but crested ibis are rare.
About 20 species of medium-sized wading birds (including spoonbills) belong to the family Eguridae and the subfamily Egurinae. It is distributed in all warm areas except the South Pacific Islands. Walking in shallow lagoons, lakes, bays and swamps, looking for small fish and mollusks with slender downward curved mouths. When flying, the neck and feet are straight, flapping wings and gliding alternately. Often gather in large groups to breed, and build strong nests with branches under bushes and forests.
Colored crested ibis and its relative crested ibis are smaller, with reddish-brown feathers and glossy light purple. These two species can be found in all warmer places in the world. African skua is light green and has a loud cry. Pomfret only lives in Australia. Compared with other storks, it lives far from water and mainly feeds on grasshoppers.
