If it is early, such as acute alcoholic hepatitis, chronic alcoholic hepatitis, or alcoholic fatty liver, it is better to recover after abstinence. Under normal circumstances, liver function can return to normal and can be cured.
For alcoholic liver fibrosis, if it is early and does not progress to cirrhosis stage, abstinence can mostly be improved or reversed.
If the disease progresses to the stage of alcoholic cirrhosis, abstinence can make the disease progress slowly, but it is difficult to cure. Especially in the late stage of alcoholic cirrhosis, there are various complications, which are more difficult to cure. There are also some patients with alcoholic severe hepatitis whose survival rate is relatively low. Liver transplantation is generally needed as the only cure for liver cirrhosis or severe hepatitis at the end stage.
