The chestnuts will not go bad if they are stored in sandy soil, plastic bags, refrigerated, boiled and dried, or stored in jars.
1. Sand storage and preservation
Put straw on the floor in a cool indoor room, and then spread about 6 cm thick sand. The humidity of the sand should be kneaded into a ball with your hands, and then let go. It is better to spread it out, and pile up the chestnut fruit sand (each layer is 3 to 6 cm thick) alternately on the sand. After stacking in this way, spread 6 to 8 cm of wet sand on top, and cover the top with straw. It is required to turn over and check every half a month, and spray water appropriately after the sand is dry. Chestnuts stored in this way can be stored for about 4 months.
2. Storage in plastic bags
Put chestnuts in plastic bags and place them in a basement with ventilation and stable temperature. When the room temperature is below 10℃, it needs to be sealed. When the temperature is above 10℃, it needs to be opened. It should be turned every 7 days or so. After one month, the opening time can be extended.
3. Refrigerator
Put the fresh chestnuts in the sun for about a day, peel off the chestnut shells, put them in a fresh-keeping bag, tie the mouth, and put it in the refrigerator. This can also increase the storage time. Note that the chestnut shell must be removed and stored in the refrigerator, otherwise the chestnut shell will easily become moldy.
4. Boil and dry.
Boil the chestnuts in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes, then drain, sun-dry or dry them, and put them into a cloth bag or nylon mesh bag , hang in a ventilated place, dry it once every 20 to 30 days, and can be stored for 1 year.
5. Storage in jars
Put the chestnut fruits into a dry and clean small jar or narrow-mouthed jar (wine jars or jars are not allowed), and when the jar is 80% full , put straw in the mouth of the cylinder (tank), and place the cylinder on a wooden board or dry floor. This storage method is suitable for small quantities of chestnuts and keeps them fresh for a long time.
