Legend has it that the Changhai is sometimes infested with monsters and beasts, and in the 1980s there were people who saw that giant aquatic animals infested the area, but strangely enough, there are no fish surviving in the huge Changhai, and these strange things add more mystery to the winter of the Changhai.

Jiuzhaigou Changhai

The Changhai, at an altitude of 3,060 meters above sea level, is about five kilometers long and more than 600 meters wide, covering an area of 930,000 square meters. In winter, the Changhai ice layer as thick as 60 centimeters, is the ideal place for ice sports.

Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong both have intoxicating wines. The Tibetan and Qiang people are passionate and bold, and this character is also strongly reflected in their food culture. The local specialties are mainly beef and mutton, but the Tibetan and Qiang people have slightly different practices: the Tibetans mainly serve smoked and barbecued meat, supplemented by barley wine, butter tea, yogurt and other beverages; the Qiang people like to eat spicy and sour flavored meat dishes and animal offal, and the local Han Chinese people mainly serve Sichuan cuisine.

Outside the ditch: there are many large and small hotels near the mouth of Jiuzhaigou, as long as it is not the Golden Week, accommodation is not a problem at all, the price ranges from tens of dollars to thousands of dollars. Pay attention not to gullible accommodation solicitors, their own more to find a few comparisons, good look at the room can be negotiated with the waiter.

Star hotels near the mouth of the gully include the Sheraton Jiuzhaigou International Hotel, the Qianhe International Hotel, the Xingyu International Hotel, the Jiu Gong Hotel, the Gesang Hotel, the Lotus Leaf Hotel, and the Jiu Tong Hotel, with prices ranging from two hundred dollars to thousands of dollars; and youth hostels such as the Jiuzhaigou Ziyou International Youth Hostel, and the Panda Youth Hostel, with prices of about thirty dollars to eighty dollars. If you have a bigger pocket, you can consider staying at Jiuzhai Paradise International Resort Center (five-star). Jiuzhai Paradise is claimed to be the largest nature-based hotel in Asia, and its building is blended with nature, with good environment, facilities and services. However, it is located in Ganhaizi, 20 kilometers away from Jiuzhaigou Kou, which makes transportation a bit inconvenient. It takes about half an hour to get to the mouth of the ditch from here with a chartered bus for about 50 yuan, while it takes more than 2 hours to get to Huanglong with a chartered bus for about 200 yuan.

Inside the ditch: according to the regulations, accommodation is not allowed in the ditch. There are people patrolling in the ditch, and if you are caught, you will be fined 500 yuan and invited out of the ditch. In addition, no lodging is also to protect the environment, you'd better comply.

Transportation Information

The Zechawa ditch is a long journey and has few attractions, so it is not recommended to visit the ditch completely on foot. You can choose to take a bus at the Norilang center station, to the Changhai down, then hike to the colorful pool, then down to the upper seasonal sea. Finally, take the bus back and view the Middle Season Sea and Lower Season Sea on the way.
