Main responsibilities:

(nine) in charge of the work of teachers in the city; Responsible for the implementation of the qualification system for teachers in all kinds of schools at all levels in the city; Responsible for the recognition and reward of the education system; To manage the continuing education of teachers and educational administrators; Cooperate with relevant departments to study and put forward the establishment standards of various schools at all levels; Guide the reform of internal personnel and distribution system in schools of all levels and types; Guide the construction of talent team in the education system.

(twelve) responsible for the foreign affairs of the education system, responsible for educational exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad; Supervise and guide the organization of educational associations.

(thirteen) to implement the national language policies, formulate the city's language work plan, and be responsible for the promotion of Putonghua and the training of Putonghua teachers in the city.

(fourteen) to complete other tasks assigned by the municipal government.

(fifteen) the division of responsibilities with the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The employment guidance and service of municipal college graduates before leaving school is the responsibility of the Municipal Education Bureau, and the employment guidance and service of graduates after leaving school is the responsibility of the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The employment policy for graduates is led by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and jointly formulated with the Municipal Education Bureau and other departments.
