The school was founded in 195 1, which has long been managed by the state power department and localized in 2000. Starting from 1985, the school started at the undergraduate stage, officially started at the master's stage in 2006, and became a doctoral degree awarding unit in 20 18, forming a complete authorization system for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. 20 18, approved by the Ministry of Education, was renamed Shanghai Electric Power University.
