How to design a folding booklet

Many times, we will design some folding brochures for a product, activity, company profile or places of interest. I see that more and more people like to use a lot of spot colors in designing these brochures, or design them in strange shapes or holes, or use very advanced paper, but we have spent a lot of money without leaving any impression. In fact, as long as we work hard on the design, we don't need too much "ingenuity" to design an attractive brochure! In this article, we will introduce the method of designing a paper into a folding booklet, and at the same time, we will offset the cover from other pages to make the effect more attractive. It is not difficult to design a folding brochure. In the booklet shown below, we design the first page to be narrower than other pages, so that the next page is exposed and presents a beautiful style. Layout: Once the folding brochure is opened, it is another landscape. Pay attention to how we deal with the whole layout in the picture below-the dark side of the text is a general description, while the brighter side lists the objects we want to introduce in detail. The picture below is a brochure of a bird park, but in fact, if you want to design a company and its products, this kind of text can also be applied. Use of characters: Two identical fonts are used on both sides (indicated by the arrow in the figure below), but the font size and the width of text typesetting are different. On the left, because it is the main introduction, we use a larger font, and the font of 15Pt produces a rich and clear visual effect. The typesetting width of the text on the left in the picture below is larger to produce an introductory effect. And the narrow text width on the right produces a kind of directory effect. The use of this kind of text typesetting makes the whole not too rigid, and the priorities are clear. Please pay attention to the words in the first few words on the left. The bold words in reddish brown are actually the same font as the font on the right-Serif font, but the thick font on the left is san-serif font. Although they all belong to the same body, it looks thick, so we need to adjust it properly to coordinate with the font on the right (reduced to 12Pt). The template for designing this booklet (in inches) has a standard size of 1.4× 8.5, and a * * * has 8 pages (both sides are added). The size of the first (that is, the cover) is 1/2 inch less than the others. Fold it like this in the picture: in fact, we can further deepen this design layout. As shown in the picture below, when the booklet is folded, from the front, in addition to the cover, there are two bottom surfaces exposed to the edge. In fact, this design is to provide as much information as possible when we see the cover, and remind customers: "Open me! There are still many things in it. " The products inside can be similar or different. In the picture below, the characters on the two edges exposed from the bottom are the models of two motorcycles. When this booklet is spread out like the above picture, at first glance, it is thought to be two pieces of paper instead of one (below) for design reasons, thus producing an attractive visual effect. Layout: To design this beautiful brochure, the key is to grasp the two elements of size ratio and similarity-there are two motorcycles on the left and right sides, each with a different style. There are two paragraphs on the left and right, and they are all in the same place, and the font size is exactly the same. In order to make the whole design look clean and fresh, on the same side, the designer used two pictures of the same model of motorcycle, but one of them was much larger than the other. Such a strong contrast had two advantages: first, it made the whole effect look clear and clear at a glance. In addition, this treatment can prevent two similar motorcycles from interfering with the reader's vision because they are too similar. Pay special attention to the fact that the big motorcycle is straight to the left, and the details are very clear, while the small motorcycle faces to the right and forms an angle, forming a sense of freedom-only a designer who is good at using pictures to "tell stories" will do this. From the picture below, we can understand the similarity we mentioned above, and the left and right typesetting are roughly the same, so that readers' eyes can easily look left and right without feeling uncomfortable. This design is especially suitable for those products that are in the same series but are different from each other. The designs on the left and right sides are very similar, and all the characters are at the same height (pay attention to the black line). The dimensions used are as follows: (in inches) The standard dimension is 14 × 8.5. Please pay attention to the widths of the dimensions in the above picture: the widths of the 1 th and 4 th sides are 3 "and 4" respectively, while the width of the 2 nd side is the same as that of the 3 rd side. Fold as shown in the figure:
