San Yu Nian What Character to Read: 鱻 (xiān) is an anagram of "fresh".
Anciently, it refers to raw fish; fresh, bright, (flavorful) good, fresh and seasonal food. Three fish to indicate freshness is a nice idea. Fish does taste fresh :) you can find the word "鱻" in a lot of restaurants, letting people know that the specialties of the restaurant are fish-related when they see the name of the restaurant, even though people don't always know how to pronounce "鱻".
Other variant names to share:?
1. Ben (bēn), a variant of Ben, means to go or run in a hurry; to do something in a hurry. The most bullish Chinese character is "犇", but the beauty is that the meaning of "犇" is not particularly bullish. Why did the ancients use three oxen to represent "running"?
