Thus, after the Food Safety Law and the State Council's Regulations for the Implementation of the Food Safety Law, there are eight departments*** involved in or responsible for food safety supervision. Their responsibilities are:
Health departments: assume the function of comprehensive coordination of food safety, responsible for food safety risk assessment, standard setting, information dissemination, food inspection agencies accreditation conditions and test specification development, organization, investigation and handling of major food safety accidents.
Quality Supervision Department: to assume responsibility for food production safety supervision.
Industry and Commerce Department: to assume the food circulation safety supervision.
Food and Drug Administration: food and beverage safety supervision.
Exit inspection and quarantine departments: the safety of import and export of food supervision.
Agriculture: mainly in accordance with the provisions of the Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Law, the implementation of safety supervision of food and agricultural products.
Commercial sector: in accordance with the State Council's "Regulations for the Implementation of the Food Safety Law" requirements, to participate in food safety risk monitoring and assessment, food safety national standards planning and implementation of the plan to develop work.
Industry and information technology departments: the same as the business sector.
