How to curb food waste?
Saving food concerns everyone, and food loss and food waste are both related and different.
Cao Hui introduced that according to the reports of FAO, UNEP and other international organizations, food loss refers to the loss in the process of harvesting, storage, transportation and processing, including the decrease in quantity or quality. Food waste includes the loss of the back end of the industrial chain such as retail, catering service and household consumption, which is mainly caused by human economic behavior and the negligence of supply chain management.
"China wastes the most in the consumption process, mainly food waste." Cao Hui said. According to a report of China Academy of Sciences, from 20 13 to 20 15, the annual food waste is between170,000 tons and180,000 tons, which is equivalent to 30 million to 50 million people's annual rations. In recent years, with the increasing national anti-waste supervision, this figure is gradually shrinking.
On April 29th this year, the 28th meeting of the 13th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) deliberated and passed the Anti-Food Waste Law, which will put an end to food waste from now on.
Cao Hui believes that to curb food waste, on the one hand, we should strengthen institutional constraints, vigorously advocate "CD-ROM Action", standardize the catering industry, unit canteens, official activities, schools, families and individuals, and strengthen supervision and inspection.
On the other hand, it is necessary to correctly guide the concept of consumption and incorporate the requirements of saving grain into citizens' conventions, village rules and regulations, and industry norms. Strengthen the propaganda of saving food, continue to promote the change of customs, and make saving food and opposing waste become a common practice in the whole society.
In terms of supply chain management, Cao Hui said that it is necessary to innovate the food processing and distribution mode, support catering units to make full use of central kitchens, speed up the construction of staple food distribution centers and cold chain supporting systems, and promote the resource utilization of kitchen waste.
