Influenced by the Tanabata Festival, Wang Conghui's florist store is again in the hottest time of the year. As a single mother, she had to seize the opportunity to make money and create better living conditions for her daughter. "After my husband and I divorced in 2014, we didn't take a penny, and we came out to fight again with our months-old daughter in our arms." Ms. Wang smiled helplessly, explaining why she cares so much about her florist business. According to her, it took her only four years to open a florist store, and she borrowed 1,000 yuan from a good friend after her divorce to save enough for a down payment on an apartment in Zhengzhou.

Wang Conghui (王聪慧), 26, was often at odds with her husband after they got married, so she divorced him in 2014 and left the house with her months-old daughter in her arms. "When I walked out of the house with my baby in my arms, I didn't have a single dollar in my pocket, so I borrowed 1,000 yuan from my best friend." Speaking of the past four years, Wang Conghui regretted borrowing money from her best friend, sent her daughter to her mother's home and came to Zhengzhou alone to struggle.

To Zhengzhou, Wang Conghui and found a job to help merchants sell cosmetics, because her daughter is still too young to drink milk powder, in order to make some money, milk powder day ran five to six other cosmetic store sales, while she ran at least 20 a day. "Later, although you can get a monthly income of more than 8,000, but too busy to go home to see the child." In order to spend more time with her daughter, Ms. Wang started asking around, learning from experience and saving up to open a flower store.

In the second half of 2015, after more than a year of hard work, Wang Conghui finally saved enough money to open a flower store. She traveled to Beijing and Guangzhou to study flowers and art for a while before returning to Zhengzhou to rent a storefront and open her own flower store.

"The flower store opened in April 2016 and made more than 30,000 yuan during the first Tanabata festival." Later, she gained some money-saving experience to save her daughter even more money, so she moved her florist to a place with slightly cheaper rent.

"Although the flower store doesn't make as much money as it used to, I believe it will gradually become popular as long as the word of mouth is good." Now, Wang Conghui said, she is able to give her daughter 3,000 yuan a month in fixed deposits, after all living expenses.

To sell more flowers, Wang Conghui's flower store stays open late every day.

Since the store was the last one to close almost every day, the streets were empty when Wang Conghui came home from work.

While living conditions are much better now than before, Wang Conghui is especially frugal. She has been using a ten-dollar bag for more than two years.

"I'm very happy with my life now. In addition to my florist business, I take time out every week to visit my daughter at Xinmi's mom's house." Ms. Wang said that after years of hard work, she has almost saved enough for a down payment on an apartment in Zhengzhou. "I'm sure I'll be able to afford a down payment for a house next year, and I'm sure I'll soon be able to send my daughter to school in Zhengzhou."
