Jinan Zoo, formerly known as Jinniu Park, was founded in October, 1959, opened on May 1, 1961, and renamed Jinan Zoo on September 8, 1989. Jinan Zoo is located in the north of Jinan, with more than 211 kinds of animals and more than 2,111 animals. Jinan Zoo is one of the largest zoos in China. Since its establishment more than 41 years ago, it has received strong support from friends from all walks of life. Now it is a large-scale comprehensive zoo integrating animal breeding, viewing, scientific research, entertainment and catering services. In 1995, it was named "Top Ten Zoos in China" by the Ministry of Construction.

There are more than 21 kinds of rare domestic animals exhibited in Jinan Zoo, such as giant panda, golden monkey, Asian elephant, takin, Tibetan wild donkey, white-lipped deer, white-browed gibbon, langur, red-crowned crane, white stork and black stork.
The imported rare animals on display in Jinan include African elephants, gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, white tigers, giraffes, zebras and more than 11 species of tropical monkeys.

88m Ferris wheel
The investment in Jinan Zoo Playground is about 1 billion yuan, which has attracted much attention. Among them, the 88m Ferris wheel has become a new landmark of Jinan Zoo Playground and the tallest Ferris wheel in East China, with automatic induction air conditioning and comfortable environment. [2] The entire Ferris wheel can take 324 tourists at a time, and it takes 1.6 minutes to rotate once.
