If you don't want the neighbors downstairs to knock on your door, read this article about how to waterproof the bathroom.
Foundation treatment:
1, brush the waterproof coating for the first time. Before construction, ensure that the construction site is clean and dry, and the waterproof coating should be fully coated without omission, firmly combined with the base, without cracks, bubbles and falling off. The coating height should be consistent and the thickness should meet the product requirements.
PS: The joints of floor drain, corner and pipe heel should be coated with flexible waterproof paint with high elasticity, because the joints between the bathroom wall and the ground will be displaced, which is the easiest to leak water.
2. Brush the waterproof coating for the second time. Pay attention to a certain time interval between the second waterproof coating, and the second coating can not be carried out until it is completely dry. The exact time depends on the coating. If the interval is too short, the waterproof effect will be greatly reduced.
3. Spread a protective layer. In order to prevent the subsequent construction from damaging the waterproof layer, it is necessary to lay a protective layer on the surface of the waterproof coating. The protective layer shall completely cover the waterproof layer without omission, and be firmly combined with the base layer without cracks, bubbles and shedding.
4, closed water test. During the closed water test, the waterline of the grounding point should not be less than 2 cm, and it should be kept for at least 24 hours. Only after no leakage is observed can it be considered as qualified. If there is leakage, it needs to be redone, and it must not be neglected.
PS: How to do the closed water test?
1. Block the floor drain?
2. Make a water barrier at the door of the bathroom.
3. Avoid direct contact with the ground when draining, and remember to buffer.
4. The waterline shall not be less than 2cm, and be marked.
5. Keep it for at least 24 hours and go downstairs to see if there is any water leakage (say hello to neighbors in advance).
6. Don't bother.
Wall treatment:
1. For wall treatment, waterproof coating with a height of about 30cm should be applied to prevent water from infiltrating into the wall to regain moisture. If there is a shower room in the bathroom, it should be waterproof to 180cm. If there is a bathtub, the waterproof height of the wall adjacent to the bathtub should be 30cm higher than the bathtub.
2. Leave a period of time after the waterproof layer is finished, so that the waterproof layer can be better integrated with the building, then make a protective layer on the waterproof layer, and then lay the floor tiles. In the process of construction, we must not be careless and try to protect the waterproof layer. Some people pass the waterproof test, but they still leak. This is the problem.
4. Waterproofing is a systematic project, and the reasons and treatment methods are different in every place. Materials are the foundation, construction is the key and follow-up service is the guarantee.
