What is the employment prospect of tourism management major (hotel direction)?
According to the statistics of the World Tourism Organization, tourism has become the largest industry in the world, and it is still growing at a double-digit rate every year. In China, in 2003, the fixed assets of China's tourism industry reached 843.9 billion yuan, the annual operating income was about 230.8 billion yuan, and about 6,487,400 jobs were created. According to the announcement made by the World Tourism Council (WTTC) at the World Congress held by the World Tourism Organization, the number of tourism employees in China now ranks first in the world, and it is estimated that 88 million people will be employed by 20 10. Therefore, there is a big gap in the demand for tourism management talents in China.

Relevant industry experts believe that China has broad prospects for tourism employment, with ten growth points. Namely:

New accommodation and reception industry, characteristic catering industry, development of tourist attractions, production and sales of tourist commodities, tourism agriculture, tourism, emerging service industry, tourism culture and entertainment industry, tourism transportation industry and tourism labor export. These areas have rapid employment growth, great potential, strong driving force, full use of market mechanism to accelerate development, low employment cost, old-age security and wide benefits.

There are six modes of tourism employment in China.

The newly published Study on Tourism Employment Target System and Strategic Measures in China analyzes the regional characteristics of tourism in China, and puts forward that tourism employment in China can be summarized into six different regional models.

First, with large-scale scenic spots as the leader, a rich employment system and employment methods have been formed, including accommodation, catering, entertainment, tourism and shopping, and labor services.

Second, in tourist cities, transportation hubs and distribution bases, a comprehensive tourism service system centered on accommodation reception has been formed, and high-density employment areas such as hotel concentration areas have been formed.

Third, in order to satisfy the leisure vacation of urban residents, the holiday belt around the city has become an important growth point of tourism employment, and a corresponding employment system has been established for urban residents' leisure services, including tourist resorts, theme parks, farmhouses and industrial tourism.

Four, along the important tourist traffic trunk lines and airports, railway stations, bus stations and other stations to form an important growth axis of tourism employment. There are three main growth modes of employment system driven by traffic along the line; Tourism transportation services along the route, such as catering, automobile maintenance, commodity sales, etc. Promote the development of tourist attractions along the route; Drive the development of towns along the line and the formation of employment system.

Five, small towns and rural tourism employment system. In recent years, ancient town tourism and rural tourism have appeared in China, and the employment system generated by this tourism model is more participatory than that of general tourist attractions.

Sixth, the employment model driven by industrial tourism. With the continuous development of tourism, many new tourism hotspots have emerged, such as industrial tourism, agricultural tourism, sports tourism, festival tourism and educational tourism. The characteristic of industrial tourism employment mode is that tourism depends on other industries, which are often not the main business, and practitioners often engage in tourism part-time.

Employment prospects:

Tourism management includes hotel management direction, travel agency management direction, scenic spot management direction, exhibition tourism management direction, catering management direction, leisure and entertainment management direction, tourism administration management direction and so on.

As far as hotel management is concerned, there are currently 975 1 star hotels in China, which are in the transition period of hotel restructuring. More than 8,000 public hotels will enter the market economy, which greatly increases the demand for hotel management talents, and the treatment of hotel managers is relatively high in the management. At present, the local managers of hotels in China are basically students from technical secondary schools and vocational technical schools who have engaged in hotel business and accumulated experience, and generally lack theoretical knowledge. Therefore, undergraduate graduates with certain experience are still more popular. However, undergraduate graduates should overcome the shortcomings of aiming too high and aiming too low, start from the grass-roots level in a down-to-earth manner, and then make development plans after accumulating experience, otherwise, they will be too high to be low, which will artificially cause employment difficulties.

Tourism is a thriving industry, so tourism management is also a sunrise profession. With the gradual improvement of tourism management system and the better combination of theory and practice, the prospect of tourism management specialty is very bright. If the current tourism management major is a flower in bud, then in the near future, the flowers of tourism management will be "charming, delicate and charming, and fragrant with flowers".
