What kind of wood is oak?
Oak (also known as oak) in wood science is QUERCUS SPP (Latin meaning "excellent tree species"), which is widely distributed in the vast area of the northern hemisphere and has about 300 varieties. Oak belongs to FAGACEAE and Quercus. Oaks on the market can be roughly divided into two categories: red oak and white oak, but red oak is not red and white oak is not white, so the color distinction is not obvious. The key point of the difference lies in the tube hole of the wood family. For example, there are fillers in the tube holes of white oak, which makes it widely used in wine barrels abroad. It is a world-famous oak barrel material, but red oak can't be used as a barrel. Oak is widely used in decorative materials and making furniture because of its excellent material properties: oak is hard and straight, rough in structure, elegant in color, beautiful in texture, high in mechanical strength and wear-resistant, but wood is not easy to dry and cut. Oak is widely used in decorative materials, furniture materials, sports equipment, shipbuilding materials, vehicle materials, floor materials and so on. White oak and red oak chips are also ideal materials for producing laminated plywood, and their patterns are also different from straight stripes and horizontal stripes. Straight stripes are better looking and slightly more expensive. Red oak (oak, red) and white oak (white) imported from the United States are expensive, as high as 10000 yuan/cubic meter, which has aroused the speculative psychology of some operators. It happens that rubber wood is called oak in the market, and rubber wood sofa is called oak sofa. As a result, consumers went to court and got compensation. Rubber wood belongs to Euphorbiaceae and is the aged wood of rubber tree. Its own material is poor, but after a certain chemical treatment, wood can be hardened, and it can also be used as furniture, but after all, it is different from the oak of wind, horse and cow, and it is not in the same grade at all. But is there any wood similar to imported oak in China? Actually, there is. Oak and white oak produced in Northeast China are actually the same kind of wood, belonging to Fagaceae and Quercus, and kenaf millet and red oak made in China are also the same kind of wood. Of course, due to the differences in origin and post-processing level, the quality of domestic wood is worse than that of imported wood, but after all, it belongs to the same kind of wood and the price difference is several times. Some domestic operators write oak for sale without indicating the place of origin, which is inappropriate and easy to cause misunderstanding. For consumers, oak and red chestnut are more affordable, especially oak is actually a very good floor material, but the pattern is not as good as Fraxinus mandshurica and its performance is not good. It is precisely because of the high quality and low price of oak wood that Japanese businessmen select oak wood from the China market, process it into "seamless integrated wood" and import it, becoming a high-grade decorative material, which has doubled its value and is quite smart.
