Jiaozuo, formerly known as Yang Shan and Huaizhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province. It is a regional central city in China Central Plains urban agglomeration and the border area between Henan and Shaanxi as determined by the State Council. As of 20 18, the whole city has four districts, four counties and two county-level cities, with a total area of 407 1 km2. According to the data of the seventh national census, as of 0: 00 1 1 on June 2020, the permanent population of Jiaozuo was 352 1078.

Jiaozuo is located in the middle of China, in the northwest of Henan, with Taihang Mountain and Jincheng in Shanxi in the north, Zhengzhou and Luoyang across the Yellow River in the south, Xinxiang in the east and Jiyuan in the west. It is a famous "Centennial Coal City" and an old industrial base in China, a national pilot city of intellectual property rights and a national demonstration base of new industrialization.
