Except for remote mountainous areas, most rural areas have sewage systems. Several families use a sewage system and a sewage pool, and the cleaning company pumps out the excrement regularly.

When I used to live in Nagasaki (part of downtown Nagasaki was in the mountains, and there was no urban sewage system), trucks came to take shit every few days, which was similar to domestic trucks and smelled terrible.
