Introduction of Sui and Tang Grand Canal Site in Liu Zi, Huaibei, Anhui Province
Liu Zi Sui and Tang Grand Canal is located in Huaibei, Anhui, covering an area of 900 square meters. Eight Tang Dynasty shipwrecks and 1 Song Dynasty stone building docks were found on the south side of the old canal. 1999 Three sunken ships were excavated. The sunken ship 1 is a wooden structure with rectangular plane, well-preserved bottom plate and stern, and complete stern rudder. There are three squares on the beam of the stern compartment, and you can change the course by putting in the tiller. Ship No.2 is a canoe carved with big wood carvings, and Ship No.3 has only half a side plate and a bottom plate connected to it. It is the first time to find so many sunken ships in the canal. Stone wharf is located on the south side of the canal and built along the river. It is a rectangular three-dimensional building, and its east and west sides are protected by rammed earth. This is a freight terminal. This is the first time that China discovered the architectural site of the Sui and Tang Grand Canal. Liu Zi Town was an important town along Tongji River in Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties. This excavation proves that Liu Zi Town is not only a transit pier for transporting water, but also a good place for business travel. A large number of exquisite porcelains from eight dynasties and more than 20 kilns since the Tang and Song Dynasties are particularly precious, with well-preserved objects and different shapes, many of which are fine. In particular, the discovery of Liao porcelain in Huaibei Canal is of certain significance to the study of traffic in Song and Yuan Dynasties.
