Chief Satellite Designer of Shanghai Space Administration in Hou Jianwen.
At 6: 40 a.m. on July 6, 2005, the sky of Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center was not bright, and the hazy morning fog shrouded the quiet land like a veil. Suddenly, a roar broke out in the silence, such as the dense drums, which shocked people-the Long March II carrier rocket, which stood quietly on the high launch tower, spewed out flames, slowly rose from the ground, and steadily pushed the scientific experimental satellite No.7, faster and faster, like a sword straight into the sky.

The star and arrow are separated, the satellite captures the earth, and the satellite attitude works normally. ...

The solar panel is unfolded and the power supply system works normally. ...

The camera is turned on and the payload works normally. ...

It worked! It worked!

In the cheering crowd, Hou Jianwen, the chief designer of the Practical No.7 Satellite, was in a mood of ups and downs, which made it difficult to calm down. How many times I faced difficulties, how many times I overcame problems to zero, how many times I succeeded and failed, how many times I lingered and repeated, and thousands of thoughts turned into two lines of tears, boiling and involuntarily sliding across my face.

Hou Jianwen was born in June 1960. Although he is only in his 40 s, he has become the leader in the development of a new generation of satellites in Shanghai Institute of Aerospace Technology. He used to be the deputy chief designer and chief designer of Fengyun-1 meteorological satellite control system, the deputy chief engineer of Fengyun-1 meteorological satellite, the deputy director of the overall research office of Shanghai Satellite Engineering Research Institute and the deputy director of Shanghai Aerospace Control Engineering Research Institute. Now he is the chief designer of Chang 'e-7 experimental satellite and the chief technical officer of a remote sensing satellite. He has won many scientific and technological progress awards from ministries and commissions and the State, and enjoys special allowances from the State Council. He is an "expert with outstanding contributions to the national defense science, technology and industry".

Keep forging ahead and make great achievements.

Hou Jianwen is diligent in thinking, brave in innovation and has made remarkable achievements. From 1983 to 1992, Hou Jianwen undertook the development of Fengyun-1 satellite control system in the Satellite Engineering Institute of Shanghai Academy of Aerospace Technology. According to the increasingly extensive and in-depth application of microcomputers in scientific research and development, he independently developed computer application technology for mathematical simulation, system design and software development of satellite control system, and successfully applied it to FY-1 satellite for the first time, which solved the technical problems of satellite nonlinear control and flexible and complex dynamic control and simulation of solar panels. In studying and solving the problems of satellite dynamics and control, he specially designed the simulation software and test scheme of attitude capture and control of magnetically controlled satellites according to the special requirements of propellant-free fuel, which solved the theoretical and verification test problems of satellites from rolling state to three-axis stability, laid the foundation for developing satellite rescue technology and won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress. Participated in the design and research of FY-1 A and B satellite control system. Through painstaking research and repeated experiments, the key technical problems of three-axis stable zero momentum control of polar-orbiting satellites were solved for the first time in China, and won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Aerospace Industry.

From 1990 to 1999, he was responsible for the technical design, technical research and engineering development of the satellite attitude control system in 509 and 8 12 respectively. At that time, Fengyun-1 meteorological satellite C was in the critical stage of development. Based on A and B satellites, the satellite has made major technical improvements and innovations, focusing on solving the problems of backward technical basis (at the level of the 1980s), poor reliability and short service life of A and B satellites, and tracking the international technical level in the 1990s, making the system innovative in autonomous management and control technology, and ensuring the stable operation of C satellite for two consecutive years under unmanned maintenance and space environment. Therefore, under his leadership and organization, he specially developed four new technologies that are simpler, more reliable and more accurate than similar foreign satellite control technologies, and at the same time developed six innovative and leading domestic satellite control technologies. The breakthrough of these key technologies paved the way for the development of Fengyun-3 satellite project.

Courageously carry heavy burdens and face difficulties.

In 2000, Hou Jianwen bravely shouldered the heavy burden, and successively took charge of the development of the attitude control system of the No.6 satellite and the overall design, development, test and key research of the No.7 satellite, thus realizing the transformation from a "tiger general" who can enlist good warfare and attack the city slightly to a "handsome talent" who can strategize and win thousands of miles.

His life has turned a new and wonderful page.

Practice series satellites are experimental satellites for the country to explore and study major decision-making targets such as the earth environment and space environment, with novel requirements, great technical difficulties, tight time and great responsibilities. In particular, the Shijian 7 satellite, which was developed in August 2002, needs to be launched in mid-2005. Hou Jianwen, who has worked in the field of satellite development for nearly 20 years, knows that as the chief designer of the satellite, he has a heavy burden on his shoulders. Technically, Shi Jian VII satellite has no pre-research foundation. Although there was sufficient technical demonstration when the project was established, after all, the attitude and orbit control, propulsion system and star sensor of the satellite were all developed by Shanghai Institute of Aerospace Technology for the first time, and its payload, constant-speed damping deployment mechanism and large-area remote sensing mechanism system were all the first in China, so it was very difficult to produce results in a short time. In terms of time and funds, due to the urgency of the project, it is not very abundant; In terms of personnel, the team is new, relatively young and inexperienced. Even nearly 80% of the comrades in the chief designer team have not completely experienced the whole process of satellite development. In addition, we have to face the situation of paying equal attention to multiple models, schedule and quality. These problems can only be solved by ourselves.

Don't be afraid of attacking the city, and don't be afraid of difficulties. In the face of difficulties and challenges, Hou Jianwen has made progress despite many difficulties. He led a young research team to overcome many difficulties. After 33 months of hard work, he finally made the satellite leave the factory according to the development progress and successfully launched it. After on-orbit test, the technical performance indexes of the satellite are good.

It takes 33 months for a satellite to leave the factory from conceptual design, which not only sets a new record for the development cycle of Shanghai Aerospace Satellite, but also is rare in China. Since the establishment of this project, Hou Jianwen has been committed to the development of satellites. He presided over the determination of the overall satellite scheme, sub-system scheme, large-scale ground test scheme and flight test scheme. In order to ensure the progress of the node, he pays close attention to the source of design, requires designers to thoroughly understand the technology, state and law, and ensures that the product scheme design does not recur and that the development process does not subvert. At the same time, he gave himself three chapters. First, the weather is fine on weekdays, and the work is not completed overnight; Second, get to the scene of the problem at the first time, and it is not too late to find the reason; The third is to deal with the problem in time and solve it overnight. In this way, Hou Jianwen not only races against the clock, but even "the day is not enough to make up at night", not to mention weekends. For 33 months, he was in a state of intense and busy work almost every day, running back and forth between several collaborative research units every day, and didn't go home until eleven or twelve in the evening every day. "I have something to do today, so I will be a little late" became the most commonly used language for him to call home.

Hou Jianwen devoted himself wholeheartedly to it. Everyone saw all this and felt very painful, but everyone knows that ensuring the success of satellite development is his greatest concern and the best comfort. In this way, under the leadership of Hou Jianwen and the demonstration function of the "two general" systems, the whole scientific research team carried forward the space spirit, and finally made the satellite leave the factory, launch and run in orbit as planned through hard work and skillful work, and delivered it to users on time.

Keep improving and ensure quality.

Quality is benefit, quality is progress and quality is life. Hou Jianwen is unequivocal about quality. He has always strictly required the staff of each post to ensure the quality of products with the quality of work, go deep into the grass-roots level and the test site, guide the test work, and control the specific conditions of the test; Personally guide each product quality problem to zero, even in order to make the problem zero as soon as possible, don't go home for a few days at the job site.

In the thermal vacuum test of the whole satellite, he and the developers worked all night. The next day, the test was successfully completed, and everyone went home to rest, but he went to the relevant units to coordinate technical problems. At that time, his comrades advised him to go back and have a rest, but he said: Seeing that the problem was solved, his heart was fixed, and he didn't need to rest. He was very excited and couldn't sleep.

In order to ensure the control accuracy of the satellite, the attitude and orbit control subsystem adopts a star sensor. Due to the lack of research and development funds, it is impossible to import star sensors from abroad, and there are no miniaturized mature products in China. In this case, for the development and demonstration of the star sensor, he traveled all over the relevant domestic universities and scientific research institutions to demonstrate the accuracy and reliability of the product design scheme and components with the designers. During that time, in order to obtain first-hand experimental data, he often drove for hours at night with the members of the research group, and stayed up all night watching the stars in the suburbs without city lights. Under his leadership, the star sensor project team developed two sets of prototype products with satisfactory performance and accuracy in less than two years.

Regarding strict management, Hou Jianwen has his own opinion: "If you grasp it tightly now, you will grasp it quickly and easily in the future, and you will grasp it early and well in the future." . Indeed, more than 100 technical quality problems in the initial sample stage of the No.7 satellite were completely solved within three months with the support of all developers and other models in the institute. There were 10 problems in the prototype development stage, of which 1 problems were finally solved after the continuous struggle of the developer 10 for 8 days and nights. After arriving at the launch site, there has never been a problem. Strictly following "standards", "procedures" and "requirements" not only improves the quality of products and work, but also makes the research team mature in learning and practice, and gradually forms a cautious and meticulous style.

"Producing results and talents" is Hou Jianwen's dual goal to complete the task. He has always believed that by undertaking and completing arduous tasks, he can quickly temper and forge a team of elite soldiers in satellite development. The R&D team of Shi Jian VII satellite is a young team, with an average age of less than 40. Energetic, energetic and plastic, but we should strengthen guidance and guidance. Before all kinds of large-scale experiments, Hou Jianwen always mobilized with the satellite commander in chief and repeatedly told him to clarify various work requirements; At the same time, we will further strengthen the management of the team by formulating various rules and regulations.

Organizational discipline is the key to whether a team can fight hard and win the battle. Hou Jianwen is always strict with young people. On one occasion, he went to a unit to check his work at 8 o'clock in the evening and found that a young doctor who had just entered the unit for more than two years was not there, so he seriously criticized him. Hou Jianwen's severity deeply shocked the young doctor's heart. Since then, this comrade rented a house near the unit and worked until midnight every day, finally overcoming the technical difficulties.

At that time, after graduating from Harbin Institute of Technology, majoring in automatic control, although Hou Jianwen knew that "missiles are not as good as selling tea eggs", he still devoted himself to the aerospace industry without hesitation. Asked why, he firmly replied, "It was the space industry that attracted me." Over the past decades, in his space career, he has overcome technical difficulties again and again, solved the problems in the design and experiment of satellite overall and satellite-related subsystems again and again, and grew into a chief satellite designer.

In the face of the organization's commendation and comrades' praise, he said: "It was my colleagues who supported me, the organization trained me, and the cause inspired me." This unpretentious speech, this sincere voice, tells his love for aerospace, his loyalty to his career, his trust in the organization, and his friendship with the team. It also tells the reason why he loves his job and is loyal to his country.
