Jingci Temple, located on the south shore of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, opposite to Leifeng Pagoda, is one of the four ancient temples in the history of West Lake and one of the famous temples in China. The full name is Jingci Retribution Guangxiao Zen Temple.
Jingci Temple in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, under the Nanping Mountain Huirifeng, was built in 954 A.D. in the fifth generation of the Wu-Yue state Qian Hongxuan for the monk Yongming Zen Master, the original name is Yongming Zen Temple; the Southern Song Dynasty was renamed Jingshi Temple, and the construction of the five hundred Lohan Hall. Jingci Temple was built on the mountain, backed by the green mountains, facing the blue waves, Van Yu layers, grand and solemn. Sun Long, the eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, had engraved the inscription of "Colorful Flowers and Rain" on the cliff, which is indecipherable and hard to see. Cave in front of the old "actually Pavilion", from the Ming Dynasty Shaoxing governor Hong Yufang poem: "one day thatched building into, actually my spring white". This place has always been a resort for literati to watch and recite. In the Qing Dynasty, the ancient pavilion was destroyed and became a bamboo garden. Lotus Cave has a strange rock rise, the cliff engraved with the word "Shaolin", so it is called Shaolin Rock.
Legend has it that the Southern Song Dynasty monk Shaolin Miaosong Zen master in the Jiading years when he lived in Jingci Temple often sit in this Zen meditation.
