Introduction to Yangguan Scenic Spot
Located 71km southwest of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, Yangguan Scenic Spot is a multi-type scenic spot with cultural value, sightseeing and leisure experience, which is composed of historical sites of Han and Tang Dynasties, natural scenery of desert, sightseeing of ecological agriculture and Yangguan Museum. It was rated as a national AAAA-level scenic spot in September 2116.
yangguan, named after being in the south of Yumen Pass, was built in the period of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty. Yangguan is an important pass of South Silk Road and an important gateway for Chinese and Western traffic. Yangguan's fame spread far and wide, and Wang Wei, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, sang the eternal swan song of "Advise the monarch to drink more wine, and leave Yangguan for no reason in the west", which made people even more fascinated by Yangguan. Today, Yangguan is an important part of the Silk Road culture and one of the representative relics of the Great Wall culture in China. Yangguan, Yumenguan and the Great Wall of Han Dynasty are an organic part of Dunhuang culture and one of the main research directions of Dunhuang studies.
