Life is like a dream, and you are old before you wake up. Hey, heaven and earth are scattered, and a hundred years have changed. Just born before, friends are old friends.
preface 1
Lao Tzu said, "My words are easy to know and easy to do, and nothing in the world can be done."
that's profound.
According to my experience, after listening to my class, there will be four situations:
The first kind of person is already an expert in China, and his life level is already very high. He agrees with me, but if he is not interested in books and martial arts, there is no need to study.
The second person's reaction is, Great, do it at once, maybe remember me all my life, and think that I have given them an important inspiration in life and entered the traditional culture from a way that is now useful. According to Lao Tzu, such people are "staff sergeant", "staff sergeant hears the Tao and works diligently."
the third person's reaction is simply: he was very excited when he listened, but he didn't act afterwards.
There are not many first and second kinds of people, and the third kind of people is the most, accounting for the vast majority. I call them "sergeants", and "sergeants know that if they live, they will die." There seems to be such a thing, but there seems to be no such thing. There is no objection, but it is not implemented.
In fact, most of us spend our lives in this way. Going with the flow and stepping on watermelon skin is not a slippery thing. There are very few people who really see Si Qi in the quality of life evolution and cry for progress. There is no road in the world, and our ancestors didn't show us the way, but there were few people on the road.
the fourth kind of person: "corporal", "corporal hears the word, laughs at it, laughs at it, and thinks it's the way." If you hadn't been denied and teased by the corporal, you wouldn't be right at all. Stop eating early.
when Mao Zedong was young, he said heroically, a gentleman has no body and ears, and his body and mind are strong, so why not?
both civil and military training is for the sake of physical strength and mental strength.
On the Military Theory of Combining Civil and Military Training
Combining Civil and Military Training is a complete personality pursued by traditional China people. The quiet person is the text for yin, the dynamic person is the force for yang, one yin and one yang, and the balance of yin and yang is the way.
The aristocratic education system in the Zhou Dynasty required students to master six arts: etiquette, music, archery, imperial command, calligraphy and mathematics. "Zhou Li Bao Shi": "It is the six arts of teaching to raise the country's children by Tao: one is five rites, the other is six music, the third is five shots, the fourth is five imperial ceremonies, the fifth is six books, and the sixth is nine numbers."
Confucius runs private schools and follows the rites of the week, which is also a combination of civil and military studies, and teaches six arts: etiquette, music, calligraphy, counting, shooting and imperial.
interestingly, European knights should also learn six kinds of civil and military skills: fencing, riding, swimming, hunting (or spear), chess and poetry.
Confucius said, "Quality is better than literature, which means wildness, while literature is better than quality, which means history. Gentle, then a gentleman. " Here, history means boasting.
Wu Taiye is the only one, and writing alone is too weak. A gentleman is one who has both civil and military skills.
The problem now is that, on the one hand, martial arts people are too wild, and martial arts, brought up by aristocrats, have fallen into the lower classes of society and become commercial performances. On the other hand, the literati are too weak, seriously ill and young, and their death is sudden. Ma Yun lamented the death of a thirtysomething employee in his company from cancer. (See the appendix "The Pain of Scholar's Death")
In traditional culture, my evaluation of myself is:
(1) There is no foundation, because schools don't teach it.
(2) Reading is limited, and I started reading traditional classics very late.
(3) I have a profound understanding, because I start with entertainment and practice it.
since the may 4th movement, traditional culture has gradually withdrawn from the education system. Fortunately, I like calligraphy and martial arts since I was a child, so I gradually entered the traditional culture.
According to my own life experience of nearly half a century, I suggest that I can enter the traditional culture of China from two aspects, namely, the book way and the martial way. That's how I got here myself.
My martial arts specialty is named "People who love martial arts are wise".
I divide the world's sports into three types:
First, competitive sports, represented by the Olympic Games, originated in the west and are now popular all over the world.
its original purpose is to train better soldiers and pursue higher, faster and stronger. Modern times have mainly evolved into entertainment and commerce. From this perspective, it has great value. From the physical point of view, it is no longer sports, but "physical harm"-Yao Ming and Liu Xiang are two recent examples:
Yao Ming said, I don't want to live in a wheelchair.
Liu Xiang broke his hamstring again at the London Olympics.
the second is mass fitness sports. Walking, running, climbing, swimming, playing ball games, radio exercises, and so on.
The above two kinds of sports are carried out at the muscle, nerve and bone levels.
the third is to practice sports. This is a sport developed in the East, especially in China, which aims at life cultivation, including meditation, static standing, martial arts at home, Taoist cultivation and so on.
This kind of sports is based on human meridians, qi and blood and spirit. This is a deeper level of the small universe of the human body. As we all know, the deeper the layer of matter, the greater the energy it contains: the nuclear energy released by nuclear fission is millions of times larger than the chemical energy released by combustion. The same is true of the small universe of the human body. The deeper the level, the higher the energy and the greater the force on life. This is another example of the correspondence between a small universe and a big universe.
In the long-term practice, I realized that practicing physical education-martial arts within the family has the following four functions:
(1) Developing wisdom-I personally attach the most importance to the development of the brain above the shoulders, so I put the development of wisdom in one place.
once, I attended a seminar on martial arts culture in history. At the meeting, there was a gentleman who was born into a martial arts family and is now a doctoral tutor. Perhaps because he was a Chinese teacher and used to singing solo in class, he moved the class to the meeting, where he talked endlessly and attacked how China's martial arts were unscientific and irregular, and how to strive for "scientific" inclusion in the Olympic Games.
I couldn't bear to hear it, so I asked to speak.
I said, in my eyes, western competitive sports are just children's games, even worse than children's games in some aspects, because it is not as utilitarian as children's games. Competitive sports have turned sports into "physical harm" while commercializing sports, and overloaded training and competitions have caused a large number of retired athletes with physical injuries. The crisis of China Wushu lies not only in the conservative narrowness of the people, but also in the gymnastics tendency of professional Wushu teams, who blindly pursue the high, floating and difficult movements. The third crisis of China Wushu is to be included in the track of competitive sports. Entering the Olympic Games has not improved the level of practicing sports, but reduced it.
It was at that meeting that I put forward four life meanings of Neijia Wushu as a practice of physical education, the first of which is to develop wisdom.
that gentleman said that it is completely incredible, and martial arts can develop wisdom?
