1893 Macquarie Bank (now translated as Standard Chartered Bank) bought this building and the buildings on the ground for 16000. 1920 March by Palmers &; Turner architects design buildings, Trollope &; Collins Co., Ltd. carries out structural design; And submitted a construction application in August of that year. The original building is divided into the front building and the back building. The previous building was built in 1923, which is now the Bund 18 building. The back building was built at 1938 and demolished at 1994. Now it is the Bund International Mall of Huangpu Real Estate Company.

From 1923 to 1955, the owner and user of the building is Macquarie Bank. After 1955 was transferred to Dahua enterprise company, the building has been used by many different units.

Before 2003, the final users were Shanghai Household Textiles Import and Export Corporation, Shanghai Electromechanical Equipment Company, China Wave Shipping Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Aquatic Products Company. When each unit is in use, due to their respective functional needs, the building has been transformed to varying degrees, the large space floor is divided into small offices, and the mezzanine and roof are added on the first and second floors.

Shanghai Hengyi Property Management Co., Ltd. started the renovation project of the Bund 18 building in early 2003 and put it into trial operation in June 2004. The rebuilt Bund 18 building is a comprehensive commercial building integrating shopping, commerce and catering.
