8 Ten-Yuan Garden

Ten-Yuan Garden was built in Ming Dynasty, which was originally the old residence of Hu Bangzuo, a doctor of punishments in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. In Qing Dynasty, Chen Zhaoluan (who was the magistrate of Zhangde in Shunzhi period of Qing Dynasty) and Guo Xiongfei (who was the official of Zhili cloth in light years of Qing Dynasty) successively.

"Wat" is a long and narrow hand-held board held by ministers in ancient times, and it is mostly made of jade, ivory or bamboo pieces. Ding Shanbao explained the name of the Ten Thousand Gardens in his Notes on Ten Thousand Gardens: "Because it is small and easy to use, it is called the Ten Thousand Gardens, and it is also named because it is small." The word "Ten Thousand" comes from the Fayuan Zhulin written by the Tang Dynasty. In the book "The Whole Story of Feeling", it is said that the home base of Vimala lay in Vishnu, India, and Wang Xuance in Tang Xianqing went to the western regions and crossed the land to measure the home base, only ten thousand, so it was named the abbot's room. Later generations described small-area buildings as "11". This garden covers an area of only 2,111 square meters, which is really a small garden. Ding Shanbao took this idea.

Although the area of Shikoku Garden is small, in a limited space, it can present the beauty of natural landscape, which is subtle, tortuous and fascinating. There are 34 buildings, including rockery ponds, winding bridges and corridors, pavilions and pavilions, and 67 rooms in the garden. They are compact and not crowded, and they are immersive. As in painting, they give people a sense of rigorous layout and step by step, reflecting the characteristics of northern architecture, which is a wonderful work in Chinese classical gardening art. The plane of Shikuan Garden is rectangular, which consists of three axes of ancient buildings, namely, China, West and East. The central axis building and its courtyard are the main parts of the garden. There are mainly the following scenic spots:

Shikoku Caotang enters the east gate and acts as the front yard, and the main hall is Shikoku Caotang. The structure is three bays and seven purlins, with no corridors and hard hilltops, and carved doors in the Ming Dynasty, on which the inscription "Numerous green hills worship the thatched cottage" written by Chen Jieqi, a epigraphist of the Qing Dynasty, hangs. The rocks and flowers in front of the hall are scattered, and the lotus fragrance in the pool overflows and the blue waves ripple.

the four-photo pavilion is named because it is sunny on all sides. The pavilion is large and square, and it is a six-purlin shed-style rest peak, surrounded by a stool railing. The pavilion is surrounded by water rings, full of feng shui and moon, which is quite poetic, and there is a curved bridge connected with the cloister in the west. In the pavilion, there is a horizontal plaque titled "Four Photos Pavilion" by Cao Hongxun, the champion of the Qing Dynasty, and there is a "Taoyin" hanging outside the pavilion, which is the handwriting of Gui Fu, a calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty. The couplet on the pavilion column reads "The breeze and bright moon are priceless, and there are feelings near the water and distant mountains", and the couplet hanging in front of the pavilion reads "Looking at the clouds and ashamed to swim in the water". Step into the heart of the pool along the cloister curved bridge, look around, the pool is full of lotus flowers, and the scenery is pleasant. The stone tables and benches in the pavilion were the places where the garden owners hung around and recited poems in those days. You can sit on all sides of the bridge fence and enjoy the panoramic view of the lotus flowers in the pool and the rockery. Where the curved bridge meets the cloister, there is also a couplet that says, "I am never tired of my heart, that is, I am happy with many things."

There is a four-character stone carving of "Flying kite and jumping fish" on the hexagonal gate in the north of the Flying kite and jumping fish pavilion. It was originally written by Han Yu in the twenty years of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty, and it was demoted as a self-encouragement work written by Yangshan Lingshu. The typeface flies tactfully, permeates Changhong, has the brushwork meaning of Cao Zhuan, has the right arrangement, smelting Cao Zhuan in one furnace, and contains feelings in books, showing the lofty aspiration of "the sea is vast and the sky is high and birds fly", with both form and spirit, and the meaning and pen are wonderful. This four-character rubbing was published in the sixth issue of Calligraphy magazine in 1981, which is a rare treasure. This stone carving in the garden was copied by Zhai Yunsheng, a painter in the middle of Qing Dynasty.

As steady as a boat, there is a boat-shaped building in the northeast corner of the pavilion, which is called as steady as a boat, and the pavilion faces a pool like a boat, hence the name. This pavilion is ingeniously built, with a six-purlin shed roof. It looks like a ship, just like anchoring in the water, and it can be anchored and untied at any time, which makes people think. At the north gate of the boat-like pavilion, there are couplets: the mountain pavilion is full of poetry and the water pavilion is full of wind.

The rockery pool faces half of the rockery in the east, with a height of 11 meters, a length of 31 meters from north to south and a width of 15 meters from east to west. It is built with Taihu Stone as the gable of the courtyard on the east axis. Climbing by steps, the mountain path is rugged and rugged, and the road turns with the peak, which is majestic. There are pools, caves, waterfalls and mountain gates, and pine and cypress plants are planted in the mountains, which are evergreen all the year round and will not fade in winter.

The Weixiu Pavilion was built on the top of the rockery, and it was taken from Ouyang Xiu's Zuiweng Pavilion in the Song Dynasty. It was named after the words "Wei" and "Xiu" in Langya Ye. In the pavilion, there is a stone carving of Lohan painted by Jinnong, one of the eight eccentrics in Yangzhou, which is charming and novel. There is a solitary pine next to it, which goes straight into the sky, and there is a couplet: Xiaoting Mountain is the highest, and there are many sunsets.

there is a sunset pavilion at the southern end of the sunset pavilion mountain, which is a four-purlin rolled shed structure. In the pavilion, Zheng Banqiao's hand-carved stone "Three Paintings", "Tian Youyan" and "Painting Bamboo" are embedded, and the hanging "Chatting to avoid the wind and rain" is written by Zheng Banqiao. The couplets of the sunset pavilion are: bamboo is suitable for rain, pine is suitable for snow, flowers can be used for meditation and wine can be immortal.

Yilan Pavilion goes down the mountain path and is paved with pebbles. It is located at the foot of the rockery corner in the southeast of Lotus Pond. There is a small pavilion building in pyramidal roof with a corner of 16, which is called "Yilan Pavilion". This pavilion is small and chic, sitting on the sill of the pavilion, looking up at the fountain, with thousands of silver beads, rising and falling; Looking down at the fish, it is erratic. The ripple of the pool water is "Yi"; The clouds in the mountains are called "haze", hence the name. Fu Bi, a famous minister in the Song Dynasty, used this name in his garden pavilion. Yilan Pavilion echoes Weixiu Pavilion on the mountain.

xiaocanglang pavilion, opposite to Yilan pavilion, is a pavilion with four corners of pyramidal roof covered with thatch, and its four pillars are primitive pine buildings, which makes it more elegant, quaint and full of wild interest. Canglang, from Mencius Li Lou: "Canglang's water is clear and clear, and you can drown my tassels;" The water in the surging waves is turbid, and you can lick my feet. " There is a big stone by the pool under the pavilion, which can be used to stand on one's feet. Su Shunqin, a poet in Song Dynasty, once built Canglang Pavilion in Suzhou, which is a famous garden. Xiao Canglang is the owner who borrowed Canglang Pavilion from Suzhou Humble Administrator's Garden.
