Huawei as I Know It (I)

Huawei has been an on-the-job (R&D) employee for five years. For nothing else, I just want to share what I have seen and gained in these five years for the reference of people who see it in the future. I hope it will be helpful to him, so I opened a new number to write this down.

It may be divided into several parts. For example, the first chapter is about Huawei's domestic organization, the second chapter is about Huawei's work, and the third chapter may mainly focus on subjective parts, such as feelings and suggestions over the past five years.

Huawei doesn't count as outsourcing. There are more than 18W full-time employees. I just talk about something from my perspective. Maybe I only saw what I know or what I am subjective. You can leave comments if you have any refutations, but I don't accept criticism, because I just share it purely. I only guarantee that what I say is what I think is in my heart.

next is the text.

Huawei has many research institutes in China, such as Songshan Lake (previously moved to Longgang, Shenzhen), Shanghai, Sichuan, Xi 'an, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, etc., and like me, it is in Beijing. Besides, there are offices or bases in other places, such as Tianjin and Langfang. Of course, there are research institutes abroad. Because I am in Beijing, I will mainly talk about Huawei in Beijing.

Beijing is also divided into several parts, such as North Research Institute, Huawei Building, and offices like China Shipping, etc. Almost all of the research and development are in the first two places mentioned just now.

within Huawei, research and development is divided into several parts (BG): terminal (consumer business), wireless, network, 2112 lab, enterprise BG, cloud BG and so on. Among them, the most contact you may have is the terminal. For example, your mobile phone is Huawei's, like wireless and network, which belong to the carrier business. This belongs to the industry where Huawei started to make a fortune. For example, Ren Zhengfei started as a switch. Although there is a laboratory in the name of 2112, it is actually not a laboratory, but many of them were engaged in research at the beginning (to put it bluntly, pre-research rather than delivery). Of course, it is not so pure now, including the well-known Haisi, which actually belongs to 2112 in architecture.

what r&d businesses are there in Beijing? Terminals, routers, core networks, Hess, and various 2112 laboratories. That's all I perceive, like other clouds and wireless, but it doesn't take the bulk. Huawei also has a chain of contempt for different BG's, of course, it is generally self-deprecating, such as: St. Wireless, God Terminal, Haidiao Silk, and Scientists. It is said that there were many year-end awards for wireless in the past; Needless to say, the terminal has been quite strong in recent years and the treatment is very good; Haisi is relatively not so strong; Scientists are talking about people in 2112.

Although the terminal may have been a scum in the group nearly 11 years ago (making a white card custom machine for operators), it has now become the mainstay of the group's profits. In any case, communication is already a sunset industry, no matter your personal development or internal status.

The environment of various research institutes in Huawei is good, and all kinds of flowers and plants in season may be liked by the bosses. For example, Songshan Lake has also been built into a European castle, which requires tickets to visit, and there are swans in the lakes of several research institutes.

I think the dining in the canteen is also worth mentioning, that is, it is not as good as the public or the public relations articles say, at least it is not. The canteen level of each institute is not consistent. It is said that the Shenzhen headquarters is the best, and there are always people in the heartfelt community who complain that their institute is the worst. Eating in the canteen is not free, but it is cheaper than eating out, and the most important thing is that it is hygienic and safe. I went out for an interview with other Internet companies, such as ByteDance. It is said that the canteen is awesome, but it tastes just like that. Of course, people are free. By the way, the company shuttle bus is not free, and it is not cheap. The fares range from 8, 13 and 16. Of course, it is free if you want to take the shuttle bus after 9 pm.

Huawei is divided into ranks. For example, operators may start from single-digit ranks, secretaries and clerks from 11 (of course, secretaries who join undergraduate courses start from 13), and R&D usually starts from 13. Of course, when your school recruits, for example, it is more prominent, or your school is better, or you can talk better. It is possible that the undergraduate course is a 14-level entry. Doctors usually join in 15 or 16, and I don't know from which level those legendary talented teenagers started, 17? Then these levels will go all the way to level 22, and if it is higher, the level title will show *, which may be the level of the president, not what I know. However, social recruitment usually comes in at level 15 or above. Of course, some people just want to recruit because they are incompetent, because social recruitment stipulates that if they die, they will be at level 15 or above, and some HR will still put you in the school recruitment quota. At this time, you may only come in at level 13 or level 14.

In addition, Huawei's R&D organizational structure is not flat as advocated by Internet companies, perhaps because Huawei has a large number of people? Anyway, the organizational structure of level 4-5 should not be too common, and you don't need to be surprised when you see it at a deeper level. Anyway, that's the way it is.

the company will evaluate personal performance twice a year, once in the middle of the year, probably in August, and once in the spring of the following year, probably in March-April. The evaluation is divided into four grades: A, B+, B and C (it is said that there was a D a long time ago, but I haven't seen it now anyway). A and B+ are both excellent, or a good evaluation, B is very general or even poor, and C is basically equivalent to persuasion. You can basically forget about the year-end bonus this year. According to legend, 1C is ruined for 3 years.

The company has the concept of Saturday at the end of the month, that is, you have to go to work on the last Saturday of each month, with double salary. Of course, you can also choose to take time without money (vacation quota). If you choose to change it into money, the money on Saturday at the end of this year is about equal to your salary for one month.

That's about it. That's all the objective parts that come to mind. Please make up for them when you think of something else.
