1, episode 1, in the 1931s, bandits were rampant and there were many cigarette houses in Gaomi County, Shandong Province, and the people were in poverty. Zhu Haosan, a new county magistrate, took office with his wife Sun Dajiao and his entourage from Gaomi. On his first day in office, he was assassinated by the local gangster "Flower Neck", and Zhu Haosan issued the first decree on the spot: to suppress bandits. Dai Jiulian (Jiu-Er), the daughter of Dai Laosan, a ruined landlord in Ping 'an Town, the northeast township of Gaomi, and Zhang Junjie, the son of Zhang Jichang, president of Gaomi County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, were childhood friends. Junjie returned from studying in Qingdao and immediately went to find his sweetheart Jiu-Er. Dai Laosan was addicted to smoking and gambling. For money, he sold his house and Jiu-Er's mother to Cao Er, the boss of the thick-stick class. Jiu-Er begged Junjie's family to raise money to redeem his mother, but he saw her commit suicide by hanging herself. The feeling be nasty under, Jiu-Er intends to burn down the Cao family's house, but was stopped by the barber Yu Zhanao. During the chaos, the county magistrate Zhu Haosan happened to pass by, and Jiu-Er reported the grievances urgently. Zhu Haosan decided the case on the spot in front of everyone, and punished Cao Er's master and Dai Lao. In order to get a gift, Dai Laosan insisted on telling her to Shan Bianlang, the son of Shan Tingxiu, a big brewer in the town, despite Jiu-Er's opposition. Jiu-Er found Junjie and told his father that he wanted to sell his news. Junjie proposed to elope with Jiu-Er, and they knelt down sweetly and vowed to become husband and wife. Before leaving, Junjie told Jiu-Er that they would meet behind a big tree outside the city at 11 o'clock tomorrow evening and fled to Qingdao together.
2. In the second episode, Jiu-Er was relieved because he had an agreement with Junjie. After Zhu Haosan took office, he was very busy solving grievances for the people. Recently, the drought in Gaomi County was severe, and Master Cao, the owner of Gangzi Class, promised Zhang Jichang to carry out the "Dragon King" in the temple for rain. Yu Zhanao, a thick-handed man, took the job with Si Kui and other brothers. When Zhu Haosan heard the news, he roared at Zhang Jichang and others, saying that begging for rain was a feudal superstition and wanted to shell the Dragon King. With Zhu Haosan's roar, rain immediately fell in the sky, and the people knelt down and shouted "Dragon King". In the face of serious bandits in Gaomi County, Zhu Haosan ordered Zhang Jichang and others to report to themselves the whereabouts of bandit leaders Hua Neck, Black Eyes, Cold Pockmarked and others within three days. Junjie inadvertently revealed to his seriously ill mother that he was going to elope with Jiu-Er, and begged her to keep it a secret. But in order to keep her son, Junjie's mother told her husband Zhang Jichang the news of elopement for the first time. Zhang Jichang learned that his son was going to elope with Jiu-Er. Before he thought of spending his neck, he expressed his love for Jiu-Er, so he teamed up with Junjie's mother to play a bitter plan to stabilize Junjie, and got the secret code agreed with Jiu-Er from Junjie.
3. In the third episode, Zhang Jichang told Hua Neck the place where Jiu-Er met Junjie and the secret code. Junjie's mother, worried about Jiu-Er's safety, secretly sent a letter to Zhu Haosan, hoping that Zhu Haosan would lead troops to suppress Hua's neck. Jiu-Er, who was full of joy, arrived at the meeting place on time, but was kidnapped by Hua Neck. Zhu Haosan arrived with troops, but he closed his eyes. Jiu-Er was taken to the bandit's lair of Flower Neck, and Flower Neck, who admired Jiu-Er for a long time, planned to hold a banquet and marry him overnight. Zhu Haosan beat the bandits to the air and was so angry that he went to Zhang Jichang's theory. Junjie knew that his parents had deceived him, and he was extremely disappointed with his parents. He was determined to rescue Jiu-Er. Jiu-Er threatened to die, unwilling to submit to Hua's neck. Flower neck tells Jiu-Er that Zhang Junjie betrayed her, and Jiu-Er is shocked. Zhang Junjie came alone to save Jiu-Er, and spent his neck in front of Jiu-Er and everyone, making Junjie admit that he told the secret. Junjie, in order to protect his parents' reputation, can only admit against his will that it was a slip of the tongue. Jiu-Er's misunderstanding of Junjie is very painful. She thought for a long time and decided to protect herself. Jiu-Er advised Hua Neck to blackmail Zhang Jichang and Dai Laosan in the name of kidnapping. When Yu Zhanao and Si Kui went to the bandits' lair to deliver food, they found Jiu-Er. He ran to Zhu Hao's third place to send a message, intending to rescue Jiu-Er.
4. In episode 4, Jiu-Er gives advice to Hua Neck, thinking that he can protect himself, but he doesn't know that Hua Neck has taken the money and doesn't intend to let her go. Yu Zhanao and Sikui took Zhu Haosan's troops to Flower Neck's bandit nest. Taking advantage of the chaos, Yu Zhanao shouldered Jiu-Er and fled. Zhu Haosan didn't catch Hua's neck and burned his bandit nest. Jiu-Er didn't expect that Yu Zhanao would really come to save himself, and he was a little touched. Yu Zhanao collected half of the bandits and put them to death. Zhang Jichang lost thousands of dollars to save his son, but he was so angry that he ran to Zhu Hao to sue Jiu-Er for bandits. Jiu-Er was taken to the county government, told Zhu Haosan that he had been betrayed and kidnapped, and expressed his difficulties in giving advice to Hua Neck in order to protect himself. Zhu Haosan sympathized with Jiu-Er and felt that this woman was not simple, brave and witty. Zhu Haosan thought that what Jiu-Er said was true, and he planned to punish Zhang Jichang and flog a hundred soles. Zhang Jichang, out of respect, proposed that he should gather business people to raise money and solve the salary problem for Zhu Haosan's troops, so as to avoid the pain of flogging. Sun Dajiao, the third wife of Zhu Haosan, appreciated Jiu-Er's wit and courage, and recognized Jiu-Er as her adopted daughter. At the thought that he was going to marry Shan Bianlang, a leper, and Junjie betrayed himself, Jiu-Er felt desperate for life. Jiu-Er's brother Dai Daya advised her to take it easy.
5. In episode 5, Shan Er and Shan Lao, a big brewer in Gaomi County, have been coveting the secret recipe of 31-mile red wine at home. I heard that Jiu-Er, the daughter-in-law told by the boss Shan Tingxiu for his son Shan Bianlang, was tied up by bandits and ran home to make trouble. After Shan Tingxiu managed to stabilize them, he found his eldest daughter-in-law, Shu Xian (married to a single family with an archway) to discuss countermeasures. Shu Xian suggested marrying Jiu-Er home as soon as possible to avoid big sleep, considering the gradual deterioration of Shan Bianlang's health. Yu Zhanao's mother has been widowed for many years, and recently she often has private meetings with a doctor named Hu. Yu Zhanao was so annoyed that he had to hide in the home of his brother Si Kui to avoid suspicion. Junjie learned that Jiu-Er really wanted to marry a leper, and ran to Dai's house overnight to let Jiu-Er go with him. Desperate, Jiu-Er said that he would rather marry a leper than trust Junjie. It's time to pick up the bride. Before leaving home, Jiu-Er told his brother that he should never count on others and live on his own. Jiu-Er got into the sedan chair carried by Yu Zhanao and others. On the way, Yu Zhanao and others tried their best to jolt the bride Jiu-Er who was sitting in arrogance. Jiu-Er gritted his teeth and kept a straight face. Yu Zhanao admired him secretly and had a deeper love for Jiu-Er. On the way, Junjie masked his plan to rob Jiu-Er, but was knocked down by Yu Zhanao and others. Jiu-Er, the bride, went to visit the bride's family, only to find that the groom was a rooster.
