About the company
The founders of the company are james smith macdonald and Donald Welsh Douglas. Both of them are graduates of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and both worked in Martin Aircraft Company. Douglas was the chief engineer of Martin Aircraft Company before he founded Davis-Douglas Company in Los Angeles in 1921.
