China authoritative hotel selection activity "Golden Pillow Award" in 2111 took "green environmental protection" as the theme, and Liang Wendao gave a brief comment on "the significance of this selection". "I think this is a good advocacy and implementation of green environmental protection in the hotel industry. As judges, we should first implement it by ourselves. Including our mentality towards hotel guests! " Bill Xiong, the president of CubeNet (graduated from Harvard School of Design, and CubeNet is the partner of the 2111 Golden Pillow Selection) pointed out that "how to be green depends on the data, not the mouth, and the green design definitely belongs to the high-tech category. Without sufficient technological innovation in materials and structural innovation in spatial structure, it is impossible to claim to be a green hotel."
current affairs commentator of Liang Wendao Phoenix Satellite TV
BT: Among the hotels you stayed in, which ones impressed you with their environmental protection measures? How did they do it?
Liang: I don't think what each hotel has done is particularly excellent and ideal. Comparatively speaking, the hotels that impressed me are: Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, which is the most strict hotel that implements customers' requirements for bedding and towels not to be changed. In order to show intimate service, some hotels always ignore the guests' request not to change towels and bedding. Beijing Yushe Hotel: All the wood used in its building is taken from the abandoned second-hand wood in China. Some small homestays abroad adopt non-disposable large bottle packaging on the hotel's bath products, which effectively reduces the waste of resources on bath products and packaging, and saving is also a manifestation of environmental protection.
BT: Do you think a hotel can be called a green hotel? What are the most important criteria?
Liang: The overall hardware facilities of the hotel should be environmentally friendly: try to choose environmentally friendly materials in its building materials; Recycling of hotel energy: especially in electricity and water; Service of daily necessities: minimize packaging and replacement of daily necessities.
BT: how do you think guests can cooperate with the hotel's environmental wishes? Who's actions are worth emulating?
Liang: We should make a profound interpretation and transformation from the positioning of the hotel industry. The so-called "good hotel" does not mean a luxurious and rich hotel. In China, we are always striving for greatness. For example, the bigger and brighter the lobby of a hotel, the more luxurious it will be, but behind it is the huge consumption of electricity and other energy. Nowadays, many people advocate "easy packing" and travel with only a small amount of items. They provided a lot of convenience for their travel, but they consumed many daily necessities provided by the hotel during their stay in the hotel. Therefore, I advocate friends who bring their own daily necessities when traveling and create a burden for themselves. They really do environmental protection.
BT: Are there any hotels where you can't help but give them a suggestion?
Liang: yes. For example, it is suggested that they strictly implement the needs of hotel guests and replace bedding and towels. In order to show intimate service, many hotels always plug in the card to get electricity for their guests when they are not in the room for a long time, so that the air conditioner and lights can run for a long time to ensure that guests can feel the appropriate temperature and brightness when they enter the room, but in fact, it is a waste of a lot of power resources. At the same time, for many luxurious disposable daily necessities, we can reform the packaging and quantity, use more large bottles and reduce the types of unnecessary daily necessities.
BT: Do you feel that some facilities in the hotel are simply unnecessary?
Liang: First of all, there is no need to open too many elevators, and some elevators can even adopt floor restrictions. For example, measures such as not stopping at floors 1 to 5 encourage people to walk and reduce power consumption. Secondly, SPA service is the least environmentally friendly project in my opinion, which needs to waste a lot of water resources. Therefore, I think some hotels can close the SPA service. Finally, it is suggested to reduce the use of bottled water while ensuring the safety and hygiene of hotel water. Drink more tap water.
Liu Deqian, Deputy Director of Tourism Research Center of China Academy of Social Sciences
BT: Among the hotels you stayed in, which ones impressed you with their environmental protection measures? How did they do it?
Liu: As far as my personal experience is concerned, most four-and five-star hotels have obvious environmental protection measures, including some third-tier small cities and low-star hotels. Most executives and business managers in China have a clear awareness of environmental protection. This is a gratifying phenomenon.
BT: Do you think a hotel can be called a green hotel? What are the most important criteria?
Liu: If people think that the core elements of a green hotel should be environmental protection, health and safety. Environmental protection requires not only the concept of environmental protection, but also environmental protection measures. Therefore, in the operation of hotels, being friendly to the environment and saving resources naturally become an essential task.
BT: how do you think the guests can cooperate with the hotel's environmental wishes from their own perspective?
Liu: it is really indispensable for the guests to cooperate with the hotel's environmental protection will. The reason for the problem may lie in whether the "green" of the hotel is attractive to the guests, or whether there is enough attraction.
BT: Are there any hotels where you can't help but give them a suggestion?
Liu: Occasionally, there are some hotels, which makes me have to put forward some suggestions to them euphemistically. For example, some hotels located in scenic spots and seaside areas, on the one hand, the air in the rooms is dirty, on the other hand, they can't open the windows, which makes people really helpless. There are also some hotels that have just been renovated, and the pungent smell of chemical fiber carpets and the inability to open windows form a "double-sided attack", which is really unbearable.
Dai Bin, National Inspector of Star Rating Committee of National Tourist Hotels, Dean of Sino-Swiss Hotel Management College
BT: Among the hotels you stayed in, which ones impressed you with their environmental protection measures? How did they do it?
Dai: Gloria Resort Sanya Bay: The lobby is open to the outside world, and there are no doors and windows, so there is no need to install air conditioning and other refrigeration equipment; Most rooms have a skylight at the top, which is natural for lighting and does not need to turn on the light during the day. New Century Hotel Qiandao Lake: There are peacocks walking outside the hotel, and the natural scenery is integrated with the rooms; Most of the hotel's meals are based on local sources. Langting Boutique Hotel, Yangtze River, Shanghai: The hotel was originally built in the 1931s. During the renovation, many new materials were used for the roof, external walls, including windows, with good heat insulation and energy saving. In terms of lighting, they are all LED energy-saving lamps, and environmental protection cards are placed in the rooms, calling on guests to participate in environmental protection from washing and other aspects; The hotel has a "green team" to teach employees how to protect the environment and form a green corporate culture.
BT: Do you think a hotel can be called a green hotel? What are the most important criteria?
Dai: The standard of green hotel consists of energy saving, environmental protection, consumption reduction, green service (including green procurement), green publicity and green marketing. Green hotel integrates the concept of sustainable development into hotel management, controls pollution from all aspects of hotel management and saves resources in an all-round and whole process, so as to achieve the best effect of hotel management and realize the unity of economy, ecology and society.
BT: how do you think guests can cooperate with the hotel's environmental wishes? Who's actions are worth emulating?
Dai: Be a temperate guest, bring your own "six small things", reduce the frequency of changing sheets, raise the air conditioning temperature appropriately in summer, try to take a shower with a shower nozzle (instead of a bathtub), and turn off the lights when you go out.
BT: Are there any hotels where you can't help but give them a suggestion?
Dai: yes. For example, it is suggested that they use energy-saving lamps, voice-activated lights, and make some updates to toilets and faucets. Although the cost is not high, it has a very significant effect on energy conservation and environmental protection of the hotel. The hotel should strengthen communication with its guests, so as to promote the energy conservation and environmental protection of the hotel.
BT: Do you feel that some facilities in the hotel are simply unnecessary?
Dai: For some medium-star, small-scale hotels, swimming pools and bathtubs are unnecessary, and laundry rooms and restaurants can be outsourced to specialized companies.
President of Bill Xiong Cube Network
BT: Among the hotels you stayed in, which ones impressed you with their environmental protection measures? How did they do it?
bear: environmental protection is a science, and what is needed is data, not my personal impression. Generally speaking, there is a big gap between domestic hotels and international modern standards. At that time, a hotel in China adopted international bidding, and my design scheme won the bid. At that time, all the designers who participated in the design were designers who graduated from Harvard, MIT and University of Pennsylvania. We considered many green methods of environmental protection and energy saving, but since I was still studying at Harvard, after winning the bid, the scheme was transferred from Party A to a Hong Kong company for expansion and construction drawings. By the time I attended its opening ceremony in 2117, it was beyond recognition. In addition to maintaining the original design of the plane composition and the layout of the panoramic view, the shape has been changed to the so-called dragon, and the design from the driveway to the lobby, lobby and the ecological relationship between the building and the sea has all been changed. Therefore, if I am not asked to say my impression, I am afraid I can only say four words about most domestic hotels: I am saddened.
BT: Do you think a hotel can be called a green hotel? What are the most important criteria?
Xiong: The use ratio of environmental protection materials, service life, the quality of internal and external space environment, the quality explained by data, the effective use of recycled water and electricity, and the amount of energy saved in the same area are all indicators, but there is only one most important indicator, that is, data, and only real comparative data can be used as a standard.
BT: how do you think guests can cooperate with the hotel's environmental wishes? Who's actions are worth emulating?
Bear: This should be the common sense of modern people's life. For example, who changes sheets every day? I don't need to tell you this common sense. What I can share is that for those hotels where I only sleep for a few hours at night, I will inform them not to clean the room and change supplies.
BT: Are there any hotels where you can't help but give them a suggestion?
Xiong: I can't tell people who can't walk how to participate in the 111-meter final of the Olympic Games.
BT: Do you feel that some facilities in the hotel are simply unnecessary?
Xiong: In my theory, I clearly distinguish design from decoration, but many designers and developers mistakenly regard decoration as design. In fact, a good sense of space brings comfort and pleasure to people thousands of times more than decoration, and all the decoration of mending walls and roofs is redundant, but the creation of a comfortable sense of space can not be designed casually, and more designers can only rely on decoration to hide their shame. Look at Louis Kahn's design, and everyone can understand how many designs of other designers are redundant.
Senior Director/Client Director of Huang Xin Woodsberg Architectural Design Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
BT: Among the hotels you stayed in, which ones impressed you with their environmental protection measures? How did they do it?
Huang: Jinjiang Inn: They have an activity that they can deduct breakfast coupons if they don't use disposable items in the room. Shanghai URBN Hotel: It fully embodies the concept of environmental protection from materials to bamboo forests. Banyan Tree in Phuket: Banyan Tree Forest and part of the hotel expenses will be used to support environmental protection.
BT: Do you think a hotel can be called a green hotel? What are the most important criteria?
Huang: In the overall design, the orientation, energy saving, selection of building materials and other materials, especially interior design materials, are fully considered. Reduce the use of disposable items, establish a reward and consultation mechanism, and reduce the cleaning of sheets for the same customer. Efficient organization and management of guests and employees.
BT: Do you feel that some facilities in the hotel are simply unnecessary?
Huang: The configuration of mechanical and electrical equipment in many hotels exceeds the actual needs and becomes a big car. There is no need for karaoke, and the vacancy phenomenon is serious. Some lobbies waste energy and space.
