Jitou Town, named after Jitou Bridge, was built in the 10th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1745). It was originally under the jurisdiction of Shuangliu County, a suburb of Chengdu, Sichuan. In order to promote the process of rural urbanization, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, 1996 is placed under the jurisdiction of Wuhou District, one of the five urban areas in Chengdu, which has the characteristics of high-tech cultural location.
