At present, dry slag is the main material, and the nickel-iron alloy particles in dry slag are wrapped in solid waste residue. In order to recover nickel-iron alloy particles, stainless steel slag must be crushed and ground to destroy the structure of the joint, so that nickel-iron alloy particles can be separated from waste residue. After grinding, the nickel-iron alloy in stainless steel slag and waste residue have been basically completely separated, and the proportion of nickel-iron alloy is much larger than that of waste residue. Therefore, gravity beneficiation is adopted.

The crushing equipment uses a coarse jaw crusher to crush raw materials to 30 mm-50 mm, and the crushed nickel slag is sent to a rod mill for grinding, and the ground alloy particles are dissociated. The reason why a rod mill is used instead of a ball mill here is that the particle size of the minerals ground by the ball mill is too fine for the next separation. The grinding particle size of rod mill is just suitable for the next separation of nickel slag. Moreover, the mineral particles ground by the rod mill will be regular quasi-circular, which is very suitable for the separation of nickel slag by jig. Invisibility can increase the recovery effect of nickel slag.

The main separation equipment for treating stainless steel slag is jig, which uses the difference of specific gravity between ferroalloy and waste residue to carry out gravity separation, and finally obtains pure ferronickel particles and waste residue. Nickel-iron alloy particles can be recycled and re-smelted, and the dehydrated waste residue can be sold to new building materials factories to make cement or new building materials. The whole process basically realized the full absorption and utilization of stainless steel slag. All circulating water is used in the treatment process, which has low requirements for water quality and will not cause secondary pollution to the environment.

Some large stainless steel slag treatment production lines use strong magnetic rollers and dewatering screen. The function of strong magnetic roller is to recover low-nickel alloy with weak magnetism before grinding, so as to reduce the grinding burden of rod mill, improve the efficiency of technological process and lay a solid foundation for the maintenance of the whole production line in the future. The use of strong magnetic roller effectively reduces the cleaning times of rod mill and improves the overall efficiency of production line to some extent. The function of dewatering screen is to dehydrate ferroalloy particles and waste residue. On the one hand, it can recover reusable water, on the other hand, it can reduce the water content of materials, which is of great significance for later transportation and preservation.
