There was a father and son surnamed Yan, the father's name was Yan Feng and the son's name was Yan Wu. The two men traveled south from Shandong to escape the chaos. They began working for a wealthy family, but when the wealthy man saw that Yan Feng was old and sick and had nothing left to squeeze out of him, he threw them out of the house. Yan Wu and his father had to beg for a living.

Because of the constant lack of food, they were often starved to the point of dizziness, especially their elderly father, who was already seriously ill. Fortunately, Yan Wu was a filial son and served his father very well.

Sometimes the father can not help but ask: pinch son ah, how do you face so many red bumps? Yan Wu always smiled and said: pinch father, your eyes are not good, my face red and moist it!

Over time, Yan Wu's filial behavior touched a nest of crows perched at the mouth of the cave, and these crows saw the mosquitoes and ate them, and then there were no mosquitoes in the cave. Yan Wu sometimes to ask for food back, will also save a little food to feed the crows to eat. The crows and the father became good neighbors.

One day at dawn, the crows were suddenly awakened by a cry of pain, it turned out that Yanwu's father died, Yanwu embraced his father's remains at the entrance of the cave and cried his eyes out, och whetstone crows are also infected by the miserable cry, so sad, "wow! Standing at the entrance to the village of Qiuzhai in Yixi, looking west, you can see that there is a ravine around the Xiaohuangyan extends to the northwest. Follow the ravine approaching the foot of Xiaohuangyan, about two kilometers ahead, the ravine seems to come to an end. A craggy stone wall majestic, dark rock almost no grass, only a few small trees y rooted in the stone cracks. If you continue forward and approach the stone wall, you can find a seam more than ten meters wide in the middle of it.

A small stream gurgles out of it. The cliffs on both sides are like axe-sharpening, standing upright. Except for the upward climb along the brook, even birds and animals can't get up there. Following the brook upwards, the mountain crevice gradually becomes wider and the road becomes easier to walk. After climbing 500 meters, there is a mountainous area of about two to three square kilometers. The trees are lush and full of life. Surrounded by high mountains and steep hills, it is a paradise beyond the world. There is also a legend about this place.?

The end of the Tang Dynasty was characterized by political corruption, and Huang Chao took the opportunity to raise an army against the Tang in the north, but was unfortunately thwarted by the suppression of the powerful Tang army. Huang Chao then led his troops to Jiangnan. With the Tang army in pursuit, the rebel army was very sleepy and wanted to find an ideal place to rest and recuperate. One day, the army came to Yiwu and set up camp. At night, Huang Chao had a dream that he led his army into a magical canyon in Yixi, where the army was rested and the supply of soldiers was replenished.

The next day, he sent his men to explore and look for it as shown in the dream, and he found this valley northwest of Xiaohuangyan.?

Before entering the valley, he first sent his soldiers to wipe out the bandits, suppress the bullies, and distribute the proceeds to the villagers. Therefore, the villagers joined the army one after another. After a period of time in the valley, the insurgent army suddenly came out of the mountain, and took Wuzhou with a swift momentum.

Later, the local villagers named this valley as Huang Chao Valley in order to honor the insurgent army.
