Hongqi Town is located in the south of Fengcheng City. It is adjacent to Bianmen Town and Chang 'an Town in donggang city in the east, Helong Manchu Township in donggang city in the south, Lanqi Town in the west and Baiqi Town in the north. No.2, the resident government road of the town government, is 52km away from railway Phoenix Station, 45km away from Fudan expressway Fengcheng Station, 64km away from Dadong Port, 57km away from Dandong Airport, 38km away from expressway Gushan Station, 291km away from Dalian Port and 291km away from Dalian Port.
The name of the town comes from Hongqi Street. In 1687 (twenty-six years of Kangxi), the surname Wu of Xibo nationality was stationed here, and was made an errand under Zhenghongqi, so his residence was named Hongqi Street. In 1938, the Puppet Manchuria established Hongqi Village (township-level organizational system), with Hongqi as the name of the division, which governed Hongqi Village, Baoyingzi Village, Sijiazi Village, Shendian Village, Sanyi Temple, Xinxing Village, Xinli Village, Dekui Village, Laohudong Village, Huangqi Village and Fuxing Village. In 1945, Fengcheng County Committee set up Hongqi District, and in May 1946, Anton Provincial Committee set up Gushan County, and Hongqi District was placed under Gushan County. In 1946, the National Revolutionary Army occupied Fengcheng County, changed to Hongqi Township, and set up insurance in the countryside (village-level organizational system). In June 1947, the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces liberated Fengcheng County and restored the organizational systems of Fengcheng County and Gushan County, and Hongqi District still belonged to Gushan County. In June, 1949, Gushan County was abolished, and Hongqi District was transferred to Fengcheng County, with jurisdiction over Shendian, Hongqi, Huangqi, Fuxing, Dekui, Xinxing, Xinli, Sanyi Temple, Sijiazi and Baoyingzi ***11 villages and resident Hongqi Village. In October, 1951, Hongqi District was renamed 16th District. In February, 1951, 16th District (Hongqi), 18th District (Lanqi) and 5th District (Baiqi) merged into the second district, which was located in Hongqi Street and governed 32 villages. In March, 1958, the Hongqi District was abolished and divided into three townships, namely Hongqi, Lanqi and Yangmu. Hongqi Township has jurisdiction over 11 townships, namely Unity, Yongxing, Dekui, Guangsheng, Xinsheng, Happy, Tiger Cave, Construction, Advance and Victory. In September, 1958, the Red Flag People's Commune was established in the three townships of Hongqi, Lanqi and Yangmu, and it was based in Hongqi Street, with jurisdiction over 31 brigades. In July 1961, the people's commune was adjusted, and the former Lanqi Township and Yangmu Township were separated to form Lanqi and Yangmu People's Commune separately. The Hongqi People's Commune has jurisdiction over Unity, Shaoguo, Shendian, Yongxing, Sijiazi, Baoyingzi, Sanyi Temple, Xinli, Dekui, Yongle, Huangzubao and Harmony. In September 1983, Hongqi People's Commune was abolished and Hongqi Township was established. In August 1985, Hongqi Township was abolished and Hongqi Town was established. On March 4, 2112, Yulong Town was abolished and Taigou Village of Yulong Town was included in Hongqi Town. On 11/16/2113, Taigou Village and Sijiazi Village were merged to establish Sijiazi Village, Shendian Village and Yongxing Village were merged to establish Yongxing Village, Harmony Village and Huangqibao Village were merged to establish Huangqibao Village, and the first villager group of Aojia Village (Zhuangjiabao) was merged into Yongxing Village of Hongqi Town to be the 18th villager group. The total number of households is 6118, with a total population of 21198. There are 11,536 laborers, accounting for 57.3% of the total population, including 11,187 rural employees. There are 11,428 employees of working age, including 6,455 males and 3,973 females. Manchu people live in compact communities, accounting for 68.8% of the total population. The scattered ethnic groups are Han, Mongolian, Xibo, Korean, Hui, Yi, Oroqen and Dong.
