Abstract: As an information carrier, environmental label has become an important part of modern life. The campus environment logo plays an important role in setting off the cultural atmosphere of the campus environment and showing the charm of the school. Therefore, we must pay full attention to the design of campus environment identification system.

Keywords: layered positioning of environmental labels

In today's modern and international social life, all kinds of indicators with different functions can be seen everywhere in the internal and external spaces of buildings, which play a role in diverting, guiding, consulting and warning different environments. Explanatory signs transcend language barriers and provide great convenience for people from different countries and nationalities to communicate. Identification system plays a very important role in campus environment. Excellent logo is not only a guiding carrier, but also a propagandist of school image. It can not only show the charm of the school, but also arouse the feelings of teachers, students and visitors, so that they have a kind and happy state of mind.

First, the particularity of the campus environment

As an accessory of the environment, environmental signs actually exist in the space environment. It is designed on the premise of creating a pleasant environment, setting off the environmental atmosphere and highlighting the environmental personality. Therefore, it cannot be isolated from the environment, but must be interdependent with the environment. The campus environment has certain particularity and cannot be compared with the general business environment. It should reflect a campus cultural atmosphere. What is culture? In other words, it is based on culture and education. "Man is the subject of culture, and culture is the humanization of nature." Culture can not only express people's behavior patterns, but also reflect people's values, aesthetic tastes and ways of thinking. (Quoted from the first draft of Zhuge Kai's Design Culture). Therefore, the cultural background should be fully considered when designing the campus environment identification system.

The design of campus environmental identification system should be scientific and forward-looking, reflecting the campus characteristics of modernization, informationization, gardening and ecology. In order to meet the needs of continuous improvement of teaching, scientific research and quality of life, campus planning should have a more scientific and cultural atmosphere. At the same time, we should look at the campus ecology, resources and environment from a development perspective, and leave enough room for expansion in the design.

Second, the design basis of campus environmental signs

Before designing the campus environment identification system, we should consider the following points:

Clarify the design orientation and expression requirements of campus cultural ideas;

Follow the principle of people-oriented and serving the people;

In-depth understanding of campus landscape environmental conditions, structure (external environment) and traffic streamline analysis;

Analysis of the internal department structure and distribution of various college buildings, public teaching buildings, apartment buildings for teachers and students, public activity places and foreign exchange places;

Principles of campus logo-oriented classification;

Conform to the principle of campus overall image design.

Third, the principle of campus environment identification-oriented classification

Similar to the general environmental label-oriented classification principle, it should follow the order from outside to inside and from big to small. Through the analysis and investigation of the campus environment (the design content and style of the identification system should be different due to the different nature of the school), the identification system is classified to facilitate the orderly development of the design work.

The first-level orientation of campus environment identification should start with the external environment. Even with the permission of the municipal government, outdoor image signs of the campus can be set on both sides of the campus diplomatic access road; It is conceivable that as a person who has never been to the campus, he can easily find his destination by relying on signs with complete information and clear direction, instead of asking for directions when he meets someone and stopping at the intersection. Starting from the school gate, he must first make clear the name of the school and recognize the name of the school. A person who knows nothing about the campus environment wants to look at the general plan of the campus first, so as to make clear the general direction. Therefore, it is essential to determine the general plan of the campus at the entrance. After a preliminary understanding of the general planning, we will arrive at the destination in turn according to the campus traffic road guidance signs, road diversion signs, road name signs and building venue name signs. In addition, the signs of campus public service facilities (newsstand, parking lot-entrance/parking guide, telephone booth, laundry room, bookstore, activity center, convenience store, bank, public bathroom, ATM machine, boiling water room, business center, etc.). ) and traffic signs (standards) are also indispensable parts of the first-level guidance.

The secondary direction of campus environment identification is the internal identification of buildings belonging to the internal environment. Generally, it includes the general index and floor plan of the building, the index and floor plan of each floor, the hall/corridor description, and the signs of public service facilities (toilets, information desks, etc.). ) in the building, entrance signs, bulletin boards, etc. In this level of guidance, special attention should be paid to the nature of buildings (teaching building, laboratory building, library, museum, science museum, training center, activity center, academic lecture hall, school hospital, gymnasium, swimming pool, etc.). ). Some signs should be universal according to certain principles, such as fire safety signs, hospital internal signs, etc., while others can be personalized according to campus culture and college characteristics.

The three-level positioning of campus environmental signs is more detailed, and the unit cards from classrooms and laboratories to administrative and logistics units all belong to this level positioning.

The four-level guidance of campus environment identification can be used as the last level guidance, that is, house number/facility card/window card/table card/tree card and lawn card (external environment). Among them, facility signs mainly refer to signs in public service facilities, such as toilets and coin-operated beverage machines, while window signs are mainly aimed at functional signs in campus banks, student canteens, public bathrooms and other spaces. As for lawn signs, as an important part of campus landscape, it is not necessary to strictly follow the detailed rules for the implementation of public signs in the garden system, but it is possible to design warm signs with campus characteristics, regardless of shape, language or color. In the case of a large number of tree species on campus, it is very necessary to set up tree markers. There are many such examples in life. After living in an environment for several years, few people know the names and habits of trees and flowers in the environment. In an environment like school, it is necessary for students to know the names, origins and habits of trees and flowers, which not only adds color to the environment but also increases their knowledge.

Fourth, the design content of campus environment identification system

The campus environment identification system should be concise, continuous, unified and have strong visibility. The basic dimensions of signs include appearance dimensions, internal graphic dimensions, volume relationship with surrounding space, modular design reference, etc. A logo that is too big or too small can't play its due role. If the sign size is too large, it will look clumsy and destroy the harmony of the environment. If the sign size is too small, the visibility will be weak.

First, the design of the appearance shape of the first-class guiding sign should consider the overall architectural style of the campus, the volume relationship between the sign and the surrounding building environment, the orientation of the building, the shape of the building, etc. Logo modeling should be integrated with the surrounding environment, not isolated from the environment, and the appropriate logo will add luster to the building.

The premise of the sign size design under the secondary guidance is to meet the needs of the use function. The lower the same nature and classification, the more uniform the guide size should be.

Font occupies a large proportion in logo design. The VI manual of school visual image recognition generally takes full account of the application of words. Usually, printed fonts are used in the design of environmental labeling system, which is not only easy to identify, but also has standardized control over the later maintenance and replacement. There should be obvious contrast between the colors of the text and the background board, and the font size should be accurately identified within a certain distance. Modern campus is more closely connected with international communication, so there must be a comparison between Chinese and English in this paper. Sometimes English names may be longer than Chinese names, so enough space should be left. International practice is that mother tongue takes precedence, so Chinese is arranged in the order of top, English or other languages.

Logo content usually includes graphics, text layout positioning, color and so on. According to modern people's reading habits, layout design mostly adopts horizontal style. The traditional format standard is generally Chinese and English (or other kinds). Modern free layout, as a part of the landscape in the campus environment, has become the first choice for the design of campus environment identification system with moderate exaggeration, misplaced combination and abnormal appearance. The layout of signs applied to fixed positions of the same nature should be as consistent as possible. Let people have visual inertia and visual dependence, even if they change floors, they can easily reach their destinations.

Graphic design not only refers to the use of plane or symbol graphics with words in logo design, but also refers to the directional arrow graphics. Some campus traffic warnings, public facilities (such as no fast movement, no traffic, toilets, telephone booths, fire exits, etc.). ) you can simply use graphics instead of text and apply it to public services. Some international conventions or standard legends, such as men's and women's toilets, disabled passages, telephone booths, etc. , can be used directly.

Making full use of the strong sensory stimulation and intuitive feeling of color in logo design can make the logo more eye-catching. At the same time, it should be noted that the main color of logo must be in harmony with the surrounding environment. The color of the campus environment identification system can match the standard hue of the school visual image, highlighting the integrity of the campus image. You can also use the standard colors of various colleges to activate the space environment and increase readability. However, the use of color should pay attention to the control of quantity, and the more hierarchical the color, the less cumbersome it should be, so as not to make people feel at a loss.

The selection of environmental labeling materials should consider factors such as durability (especially external environment), maintainability, safety and reliability, and convenience of use. General signs generally adopt modular structure, which saves costs and is convenient for supplementing and replacing contents. For the sake of image and publicity, schools often adopt relatively personalized logo design. Although the production cost has increased, the characteristics of the campus environment suddenly stand out.

With more and more attention paid to humanized design in recent years, barrier-free marking system has gradually attracted people's attention. Many public places abroad provide facilities for the disabled, which reflects humanistic care. For example, there are toilets for wheelchairs, handrails engraved with braille instructions, audio equipment touch switches for blind people to visit exhibitions through sound, and so on. These facilities are clearly marked. At present, China is gradually establishing and improving the barrier-free environment sign system. The development of the school is continuous, and the design of campus environment identification system needs to be improved in practice.
