Editor's Note: This Huayan Temple used to be a small temple. The first one was the Minerva Bodhisattva, in a cave under a rock. Later, with the gradual fragrance, I entered the "Daxiong Hall". Later, in the 1990s, with a strong incense and a wide range of disciples, Chongqing Buddhist College was established. Of course, this must invite the Buddhist Supreme. As a result, a small temple that has never been seen before has become a famous big quadrangle in southwest China. Every day, the sound of scripture is constant, the lecture notes are preached, and the bell rings, which is universal.
Time flies, "God doesn't know that old age is coming". This is a sunny summer. In the morning, I came to the Buddhist temple alone after a long separation. As soon as I got to the gate, I saw a huge statue of Sakyamuni in the distance. It is 15 meters high and glittering, sitting on the lotus platform on the third floor, overlooking all beings. Looking up at his supercilious and majestic image, I can't help but feel awe: there is no Amitabha in the south. (meaning: pay tribute to the infinite life Buddha. )
This Huayan Temple, originally a small temple, was originally dedicated to Bodhisattva Minerva, in a cave under a rock. Later, with the gradual fragrance, I entered the "Daxiong Hall". Later, in the 1990s, with a strong incense and a wide range of disciples, Chongqing Buddhist College was established. Of course, this must invite the Buddhist Supreme. I asked the monks in the courtyard: Where did the golden statue come from? A: The Buddha came from the West. Wonderful, Zen is naturally the spiritual language of Buddhism.
In the face of these, I can't help but think of the "father comes to the west" commonly used in Zen:
In the Southern Dynasties, about 447 AD, it was said that Dharma crossed the sea and came to Guangzhou. Liang Wudi immediately sent someone to invite him to Nanking. Liang Wudi is a devout Buddhist. He once ordered the whole people to worship Buddha, presided over, edited and annotated Buddhist scriptures, and attended lectures and held dharma meetings in person many times. I also entered the temple four times and gave my life. According to historical records, every time a hundred officials want to be redeemed for him, they have to take out hundreds of millions of coins. It was also during this period that Buddhism began to flourish in China and spread to Japan and Korea. Liang Wudi asked, "I spare no effort to build temples, treat people as monks, translate Buddhist scriptures and build Buddha statues. How many advantages does all this have? " Dharma replied, "There is no merit." "Why is there no merit?" The Buddha said, "This is a small fruit, and there is a reason for leakage. Although there are good reasons, it is unrealistic, so there is no merit. " Liang Wudi asked what are the real advantages. Buddhism says that pure wisdom is wonderful, empty body, and merits are not sought by the world. Liang Wudi asked, "What is the first meaning of a lofty truth?" Buddhism says, "The outline is not holy!"
Dharma's remarks made Liang Wudi's contribution to Buddhism a "small achievement" without merit, and also made Liang Wudi's general plan of "governing the country by Buddhism" a "missing cause". I feel deeply sorry for Liang Wudi. The emperor shunzhi in Qing Dynasty had a kind of Buddhist wisdom since childhood. It can be said that the Buddha's heart is not sincere, and the Zen mind is not firm before he becomes a monk. That is to say, when he was in power, he did not dedicate the wealth of the country to Buddhism, nor did he order all the people to worship Buddhism? Not to mention that other emperors will never treat Liang Wudi like this again. More importantly, since then, no one has ever regarded Buddhism as a strategy for governing the country. This is the bodhi old zu who defined "merit" and kicked Bai Cai out. "It's all the fault of the moon." According to Dharma, Huayan Temple donated money for various difficulties last week, but it also became a fool without merit. In that case, what "merit box" is there before the Buddha? Yes, yes, no?
