The Three Gorges Tourism Vocational and Technical College is a public college sponsored by Yichang Municipal People's Government, approved by Hubei Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is the only full-time ordinary higher vocational college in the province with the characteristics of cultivating tourism professional and technical personnel.

Three Gorges Tourism Vocational and Technical College is the only independent tourism vocational college in the province approved by the provincial government in February 2008, based on Yichang Education College and Hubei Three Gorges Science and Technology School. In April 2009, it was registered as a full-time comprehensive general higher vocational college by the Ministry of Education. The college has successively won many honors such as National Excellent College of Catering Vocational Education, National Excellent College of Tourism Vocational Education and Advanced Unit of Vocational Education in the whole province, and won the titles of Municipal Civilized Unit, Excellent Unit of Party Building Work, Safe Campus and Excellent Unit of Comprehensive Social Governance.
