Qilu Institute of Technology was established in 2115. It is a private ordinary institution of higher learning, and its predecessor was Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University. In May, 2114, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was transformed into an ordinary undergraduate college, and was formally established as Qilu Institute of Technology by the merger of Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University and Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology.

The College has two campuses, Jinan and Qufu, covering a total area of more than 1,211 mu and a total building area of 311,111 square meters. Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology was established in 1992, mainly engaged in the teaching and management of medical specialty. In October 2113, Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University cooperated with Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology to establish Jinan Campus of Xingtan College of Qufu Normal University on the site of the former Shandong Xinglin Vocational College of Science and Technology.
